This duel has become to an end as well.
The dueler was Graeme, who did sent his entry begin of may, and we were both waiting for mr. X
But it was worth waiting, and mr. X did win this one with his entry.
Two different uniform coloring, both well done.
Congratulations to Mr. X, and thanks to Graeme for dueling against hm.

If you want to duel Mr. X, there are still 3 months left!
Dueling is for fun, so keep those duels running!

I have some insider knowledge so I will not join the speculation. Obviously not me (Mr. X defeated me soundly in the March Duel), and I do not know who it is.

Whomever it is, the guy is an excellent painter and an even better photographer! I usually do not care for painted in eyes at this scale but I found these admirably executed.

As for Graeme's entry, I really liked it, too. The pale blue colour is quite fetching. The details on the backpack were a good idea but perhaps not flawless in the execution.

Thanks to both for dueling. Now bring on the next contest!

Congratulations Mr.X on a well deserved win.

I did tell Remco that I expected Mr. X to give me a painting lesson, and I think he delivered with this fine entry. The painting is so neat and precise with sophisticated details like the line of highlight along the top of the false front and brim of the shako, and the finest black line between musket stock and barrel. I'm not a fan of painting eyes but these are very nicely done and just give the figure a real personality. Mr. X really came out fighting here, even the Title of his entry seemed to be duelling against the Title of mine. :xd:

The duel was very good for me. It was good to have a project that I needed to get done. And it was good to have an excuse to try some different things. Not everything worked the way I wanted it to but that's a lesson learned so that's good too. This has given me a new appreciation of the people who duel regularly, you guys are great. and the Mr. X's who duel every month are just awesome! I'm also even more curious to find out who Mr. X is now.

Thank You Mr. X for dueling. And thank you Remco for organising the duel. And thank you to the folks who voted for my entry, that made me very happy.

I don't agree with Graeme at all.
Mr.X presented here very robust and unclean lazy half-hour quickpainting.
Yes, the face is OK and musket is well done. These are definitely Foundry paints, only Foundry Musket Brown looks like this. I liked the use of bright white in nonmetallic painting. I tried this by myself now and it give very amazing look indeed, even for my little figures.
But all other are below average, I see there even strong black shadows. Are Mr.X tried to copy the shading style of Mr. Andrea? Unsuccessfully! Or at least he painted figure in blue again.
Even highlights on shako, praised by Graeme, are very robust and unclear.
And I will continue to insult Mr.X until he takes my challenge to duel with 1:100 figures. :-)
There are some months free..

Congrats to both, Graeme and Mr X!

@Sho: don't tease the man to much, you make him afraid! :-D And if he doesn't take the challenge with you, I will as a former Mr X! :sparta: :sparta:
