And another duel against Mr. X is been held here...
The winner is Michael Robert with 74% of the votes,
so Mr. X has been beaten again...
Nevertheless it was a nice duel, with a perfect choice of figure!
Next time better luck mr. X and Congrats to Michael with his victory.
Thanks to both of you and to all the voters!

Fantastic duel and wonderful entries by both contestants. Terrific win for Michael Robert and I really liked his entry. I did not consider the decorative full terrain base in my decision, although I thought his was well done. And it is always great to see a dapple grey horse, especially one done this well.

However, I voted for Mr. X. I preferred his photo and the colors he chose for the clothing. I noticed that Mr. X's horses are getting better and better when compared to his earlier entries. I really liked the face of the figure and especially the braiding on the chest.

Regardless of who got more votes, it is all for fun and improving the hobby and our little community. Everyone who enters is a winner to my eyes.

Congrats to the winner! I voted for you Michael. I liked your base and the crisp paintjob. Why did you make Marechal Ney out of the Prince of Orange?

Best wishes to the second winner, Mr.X. I like the colours you have used!

Fantastic duel! Huge congrats to both, even though I voted on the winner. Crisp painting and I liked that you made Ney out of the Prince of Orange. And also the elk reference! :-D

Hello,
this is a huge honour to win this duel. My first win. Thank you for all votes, comments and to Mr X who did a great job!
As to the question hwy I turned the Duke of Nassau into Michel the elk. Well - when I painted I decided to go for a more finely structured cloth for the hussar pelt. By doing so the figure looked at me and I looked at its face, and "he" said, please let me be Michel Ney. Somehow the resemblance of the face is that to me. Of course, the uniform is not correct, and I don't have any reference for such a non-uniform. However, maréchals can wear what they want (Joachim Murat surely did that). What's the point of being a Maréchal if you can't?
The Elk of Elchingen is more of a play with words knowing that German "Elch" is an elk, and that in German an "Elch" is an expression for a person who feels important.
Anyway. It was great fun to paint that animal, and then to come out a winner is surely a treat.
Cheers to Benno's Forum
