Here is the third duel, and its a real beauty! These two combatants set themselves the following challenge: single medieval foot figure; the Halberdier from Zvezdas 100YW English set, plus basing. The same figure was chosen so comparison would be easier. They are once again asking you to chose the best painted.

You have a week to choose your winner. Once again gentlemen take your places and may the best painter win.

I voted for you Thomas, and I have my reasons for that. I always thought we're talking about figure painting, but when I see a contribution with a flag almost bigger then the figure, then it's the flag who takes all the attention and not the figure. I know part of the job was the presentation, but this one was a bit oversized
I'm not telling that the contribution of Andreas is bad, but I only want to tell that I voted for the figure and not for the flag.

It was a lot of fun to do this one, so first of all thanks to adamparsons for this brilliant idea of his to do these one-to-one duels.

And I have to thank Thomas for sending me the figure (and many more!) to get me started with the Middle Ages. This was my first figurine of the period, and certainly not my last one. The Middle Ages have a lot of potential for colourful episodes, I have always been admiring the sculpting by Alex, the painting and diorama work by the likes of Konrad, Yarik, Michel, Thomas, and others, now there is an abundance of ideas, if only time will allow...

I'm not telling that the contribution of Andreas is bad, but I only want to tell that I voted for the figure and not for the flag.

That is why we expressly asked you to vote for the figure painting and for nothing else. The flag plus pole was just a little model building exercise for me, the little bit extra to get my imagination moving, and to see how I can solve a particular problem.

I voted for the first figure because of the overall paintjob and because of the freehand eagle on the tunic (if it is a freehand paintjob and not a transfer). But it was a difficult choice.

I'm not going to tell for who my vote was just to tell you that I had to think about for a full day before I took my decision. And even now, looking at the figures, I still hesitating wich one I like the most.

You both have my admiration.

I voted for Je_touche's, only because of the smooth colors, not the flag. It was a very hard choice and even my dad disagreed with me on this one!

The two pieces were both stupendous. Only one small difference was obviously in the style but this, according to me, didn't justify the vote for one and against the other. At least I have not voted but I have confined myself to admire your works.
I would want to add something else to discuss. Perhaps it could be wrong or limiting to talk over everything in terms of competition and votes.
I believe that in this case posting the photos and discussing around the two works would have been more useful for the forum that instead to say “I voted for you” also considering that 24 voters are nothing in comparison to the so many members of this forum.
