Thanks for these tutorials. They're very inspiring. It's interesting to use the wash to shadow, and then the base color to highlight. I'll try that on the PAVN forces I'm painting now. But what is "black wash"? Is it a professional product? Is there a home-brew substitute?

Very nice tutorial Carlo

have to say I think I would be tempted to just give the whole thing a wash of devlan mud or a similar brown wash all over rather than using different washes, though it probably becaquse I'm lazy rather than any artistic difference it would make

I can give na unsolicited testimonial related to the washes of which Carlo speaks. I reached out to Carlo about a month ago for advice on his technique and washes. I went to Gamesworskshop bought the range of washes. Wow, easy to work with and they give real fine results. I have tried mixing my own washes in the past, but this is so much easier and the results pretty much are repeatable. It did however take me a bit of time getting used to them, as I was afraid I would apply to much or too little.
