silicone moulding with BB

Upon a plastic toy fragment two Lego boxes were snapped into place one brick upon another until they formed the moulding boxes upon this pointed playtime thing of rather ancient climbs.

A silicone and cornflower mix laced with baby oil, was prepared and then compressed into each empty box filling each one.

 'For sure it does look like a clumsy effort BB', Mr Green mentioned.....
:sst: 'but deep within each one lay the secret of pattern making.' Declared the little button :eh: 'It do?', asked Wingnut. :cowboy: So now we must open up them there boxes BB ? Asked the cowboy who always sleeps in his boot's.
 :eh: :sst: :coffee: We sure are all thankful for small mercies! BB

I join the cowboy in asking you to open the boxes, BB. I can't wait to see what's been created inside them.

Well thank you Santi, the next part is arriving soon.Although it is not the end result it being only a pathway pattern that can hopefully reach out to guide others into the realms of share expressive fantasy! :coffee: BB

And so it was upon a cool winter night of clear thought out procedure that the silicone patterns were removed. Now it was then the turn upon this ancient adventure that the flash of rubber around the edges needed cutting off which in the world of engineering is termed simply as 'trimming!' :eh: 'It do?' :cowboy: ' It do Wingnut. And this reminds me,that i need a hair cut before e'm holidays come a rolling in.'

:coffee: i hope you will find time to visit again later, because the next part is already in the can,so to speak. Untill then bye,bye everyone! BB.

The Lego brick's now returned with another reinforced course added has indeed raised up the scope of these things to above and beyond!

Image

Now it was upon the clutter of my work bench that the level was set and my own mix of resin was poured onto and over this type of pattern to form the final casting that i needed. ' So the plastic toy box play thing became part of the pattern?' :sst: 'yes, and it also became part of the mould too.' replied the bright little button a fellow of heart who always speaks in lower case letters.
:eh: 'I get awfully confused at odd times.' WingNut,said as he vexed his head from side to side in a sway of uncertainty!

:coffee: That's it for now guys i will return with another update soon. BB

:coffee: The wall reliefs have now taken the shape that i determed them to be,and as such will suit my needs in order to display ....along with other needful things any large or smaller scenes. For i slip resin into many an odd looking sci fi objective theme . Although i would never wish to enter through the looking glass myself like poor Alice of old Victorian times did. :sst: 'bb, is whacky enough without doing such an adventurous untidy thing!' mentioned the little button, who always speaks in the little letters of sound enough reason.

Image

:read: 'High above hidden beneagh the deep dry sands of time...
 A very ancient dark and frightning scary place awaits.'
! :eh:! :( ;-) ! :eh: Gulp! Weee, we don't like this.'
:coffee: 'So you don't want second Gulpings then?'

 'BB, even scared himself while dreaming up this simple little example!'
:eh:' we,eeeeee Neeeeed not see any further do weee?' WingNut shivered into place upon this posting upon Benno's Figure Forum. :read: 'It would certainly be x rated.' mentioned the highly well read Book Worm. :sst: 'i can still remember ' the march of bb's lego men'. the bright little button, said. :cowboy: 'That sure scared me out of my boots by seeing such shocking look alike Lego Men!'' That was Fred and Maybells fault.'

Image

:sst:' if you like making lots of artistic mess get yourself plastered just like old bb!'
:cowboy: Because patterns come in all sorts of shapes and intricate sized ways.
 And BB has lots of them just spinning around in his complicated head of share simplicity!
:eh: 'What does all that mean, for i am all at sea in sway of a mighty drifting tide?'

Image

:coffee: So looking above this topic ain't over yet, there is more silicone moulding to come. BB... :read: And a ,lot more mess!

This Part of many parts deals with my own Pattern Making.
It ain't rocket science unless i wish to make one. I like this BB.

Image

Styrene sheet cut to size made up the doubled top and bottom.

Image

These were in my stash box for over 15 years before i used them in this double sided way, Where two were stuck together side on side. Which formed a nice medievel arch way.

Image

Simply scribed out detail using a pen,

Image

The brightly coloured lego bricks form the moulding box again, :eh: 'why?' Because they are splendid when applied in this roll because there is no waste product left over once the mould has been made. The plastic bricks are washed in soapy hot water after use and left to dry out upon the sink unit or on a towel.

Image

A slight gap in the moulding box is filled in by a piece of paper card this helps out big time because this mould will become wide open sided when complete.

Image

The silicone mix was made up and filled the box then the pattern was gently pushed into the creamy mixture to its halway point, and then the edges of the mould was cleaned up using my trusty butter knife. The all important Guide holes were pushed into place using a plastic pen top. These four guide holes can be viewed in the picture above,

Image

Baby oil brushed upon everything showing prepared the way of flopping the silicone mix in and fingering it on. Please note that the thin spacing card is still in place.

Image

Yes the final part of this mould is finished. I wonder how it will turn out? :cowboy: If''en we only knew Pards of such a thing in advance! Because i'll be awake all the live long night now thinking about it..

:coffee: Whatever happens,i'll see you all on the next one. BB

Hello BB,
you have a new project. Curious how this will develop. I notice that you have produced a huge number of Egyptian walls. You have always a large view. You could create a home for Mommies and Anubis and more. Figures exist :-)
Greetings

:coffee: Thank you Michael for taking interest enough to comment. Good Lad!
Yes you are correct all those castings exist and sleep tight in storage boxes.
It might be the case more could be written, filmed and released too. But we have builders starting work in the new year to alter and adapt our little white house for my disabled needs.

Beside what has been mentioned...

Image

The March of the Lego Men, would be epic too.
For they came direct from the stars and their constelations...
As did dear Fred and MayBell!

:coffee: This is it 4 now,i'll release more soon. BB

And so upon this winters play, where does this lead me ?

Image

Perhapes like the fellow of heart above i too am lost within my own picture somewhere else?

Image

No deares friends,i am not,for i am upon a directed pathway even if it be one of dreams to come.

Image

Let me show you the pathway that indeed of play lead me also in this small time line of clearing endeavour. Once more with a toy pattern i realised that another piece could come into play!

Image

And once more i needed to clip it so because it would then fit tight into the Lego box just like others did before.

Image

:coffee: That is it for now... perhapes you might visit again soon.
Until then, then. Bye,bye everyone. Enjoy your day. BB

This easy to build L shaped box required very little skill and it's design was aimed at saving money. 'But how?' :sst: 'because it cut the corner off by way of making another two. :sst: do you see them?' asked the little button. :eh: 'Eh!'

Everything including the Pattern and the inside Lego bricks and base was brushed over lightly with baby oil. So all areas that would come into direct contact with the moulding mixture would be protected, and i mean protected indeed because without applying this method one would need great strength to free everything which would stick together on mass. And so it was all ready for filling them in with my own mix of Silicone...Baby oil and Corn flour.

Image

 'Yes i know what you might be thinking? That table top is way to tidy for BB' :sst:'and there is the other lego box type mould filled in too.' :eh: 'But why?' Asked WingNut.

Image

:coffee: Well often is the case, that i work on lots of other things when making mould's in order to make patterns. So as not to wast any left over rubber. The other mould getting dunked into soapy water was one for producing my own castle parts.

Image

The moulding box was turned over and laid flat and the L shape open sided Pattern was also turned over revealing all the roofing detail, then relaid into the box. One brick course was clicked into place raising the two walls up above the pouring line of this now wide open mould. :cowboy: Yip! Pard's,the walls are now part of the pattern too. :coffee: Yes very true. :eh: I'm still confused.

:coffee: , Me a'nall at very odd turn over times. And as this nears it's end,you will see it on the next. BB

:coffee: Two paper card pieces were clamped upon this mould by a strong elastic band, which forced the two part mould together then it was cast up in my own mix of resin. 'I was wondering do things ever go wrong for BB?'
:sst: 'sure they do,replied the little button.' :eh: 'Eh! i don't believe that,'said WingNut.

Image

:coffee: 'Yes all the time i served things went wrong, but one learns by them or end up worser than before.'... However here today you can see that silicone mould that i made earlier, and a few others with their patterns and moulds beside them upon my work table.

Image

All these wide open flat moulds were made from the left over silicote mixture! And as you see they are all simple moulds. Just fill e'm up, :read: And butter knife them off level. The great thing about them all,is they are reuseable over and over again. :eh: Not for me they aint!

Image

:coffee: The Facade of ancient Columns come in all shapes and sizes. All the castings on display came into being by not wasting silicone and resin mixture. So really thinking outside of the moulding box, they cost me nothing at all.
:cowboy: 'Very true.'

:coffee: Better i have these as they are rather then the same left over stuff thrown into the landfill bin. 'That's our BB!'

Image

:coffee: Along with my past thought out dreams ,so it was i produced my own Medievel Cloistesrs! And i am sure i have Monks walking about somewhere in our little white house nestled nicely within the evergreen gardens of Fiddle Wood. However there are other uses for reams of slooping pan tiles... please see below.

Image

:coffee: i took the shot way upon high over one of my castle's set up and there are two examples of the very large L Shaped pan tile roof castings if you have eyes of reason to see them on wide open display?

 'Next time soon. These,Those and Them!'
 'No i remember last time.'
:eh: Me a'nall.
:cowboy: 'Just go for it BB!'
:coffee: 'It will be an adventure!'

:cowboy: 'i'll sadle Cyclopes up and join you'.
:sst: 'it is because he only has one good eye!'

...................... These....................

:cowboy: What's happening BB?
:coffee: Oh! A little about a lot i guess.
 Or a lot about a little!
:eh: Here we go again... and i'm confused already.

Image

:coffee: Rubber, an abstract idea... :read: to gain something of a hardend reality!
 Here we go again into the known. :eh: Ah! Surly you mean into the unknown? :read: No,they already exist. :eh: What do? Those do. :cowboy: That's right Pards,I have seen e'm too. :coffee: i made the castings many years ago. :eh: But they are rubber BB. :coffee: Yes that is true, but i used them as patterns within a moulding box. :cowboy: A something we can see later BB?. :coffee: Sure if i can find out where my Mrs B,has kindly put e'm!

 Block Building a Castle
:read: With BB.

Image

:coffee: Building a castle requires patterns so here i went a wondering selecting each part i needed and so it was durring the hot summer of 2019 when i began this endevour. Now it must be understood that as these items unfolded upon my work table they were and still are for my own use and therefore not for sale. However i can show everyone a little in order for them if they wish to gain a lot. :read: Or even a little, said the well read book worm.

Image

The Castlellation is solid.

Image

Image

A bottem solid wall.

Image

It has been filled with resin. Of course one has to fill the yogurt tub up with resin.

Image

This is how they are filled.

Image

And so it was that all the flimsy plastic was made solid and therefore now they are sturdy patterns that will not bend when the silicon is tucked into the moulding boxes. Or when BB,Wacks e'm with his hammer!

:coffee: This is it for now,
so untill next time stay safe,
stay well and help others if you can. BB
