Lesson 1

if a student knows how to make a simple box,then he or she knows the fundamental pathway to follow.If they have a heart to do so. Be the building oblong , high or square, or even joined to another it is just a matter of developing boxes.

No fine elemental detail to cut out is shown here.
No not even one brick is defined.
That can come later when the student decides on
how best to dress up their own little paper box.
it`s just a rough cut out lesson Pard`s.
Eh? I`m confused already.

It could be a medieval barn,
a railway station,
a house,
a line of shops.
Or even a bunk house,for cow-pokes to snooze a few dreams in.
or just a box to keep stash in.

Well fit for model railways it is 115 mm X 57mm X 75 mm in ht



It sure is a tiny wee thing.



Cut halfway through the sides fold to form the needed right angle.



The other wall lays flat.



Every little box needs one of these.
You mean a lid? Yes. Well done Wingnut.



Cut halfway through the inked out line makes a good swinging hinge when folded.
The other wall has been fixed into place.



Brackets will help keep it square.



The apex supports are cut out.



They are stuck into place to help form the roof.



More oblong brackets add strength to the supports.



a base is added.



It is stuck onto the base.
The corner brackets can be seen in the construction.



More paper brackets added to fix it good and strong.



The edges are glued up.



The ridge line is glued up.



The top lifts off. and on too. Eh?

This is how a roof top will always fit any scratch - building.

It took two hours from start to finish ___Y ? ___ in order to aid the arts in others. BB

Well guys i know nothing of airports other than living near a darn noisy one a mile away from my evergreen gardens in Fiddle Wood. Lesson 2 for my three students this year will involve another two hours of fun. School is out and it is good to give at least a hand to those willing to take it. Whatever age they are they are my brothers and sisters in our congregation, and so it is for a short defined time each week we get to play the creative game. There will be baskets to make and high elevated hot air balloons and just a few more buildings with smiling windows and laughing front doors. Teaching still at my age i long for it as a hungry man does his dinner. Yes i am happy to help a few that pass my way. For like my shadow i will only be here once. BB

Getting others used to pen, ruler and setsquare along with very sharp knives.



Here i made an extra allowance above the doorway for a rounded over window above the door.
The space for two doorsteps leading up to the entrance can also be viewed.

This week my 3 budding students were shown how to draw up templates so that more than one building could be repetitively made. The thought of tracing around window, and doorways with relative ease was a new experience for them. The point of the lessen was, you only have to measure and mark out once. i did help guide them and helped to cut their tricky bits out.

The template design always saves time.
After their use loop and tie a piece of string onto them
and hang them up for use on another day.

While they chattered away giggling to each other, and awkwardly handled the setsquare and pen, i left them to do their own thing while i continued working upon my bridge on the next table. Sure curiosity getting the better of them all three little girls ended up leaning upon my table. i didn`t mind after all it is all part of a paper cutting learning curb for them.

Mrs B,was just through the open doorway in the sweet smelling kitchen making and baking bread in a dutch oven. i`mmmm they all agreed. Soon the 2 hours flew by , and their Mother picked them up.
It certainly was a magic playtime for everyone. BB

I really like your engineering! Looks so easy, but nothing is easy from start. Have done some paper-buildings. Even tried some scratch-building, can only say there is a reason I try to buy stuff!

Yes Gunnar, i understand you on that front. I am in the very reverse style i do believe?
As i am not one ounce of good putting plastic stuff together. Paul`s Golden Hind,is pure colorful magic! While the one i tried to put together years ago, sunk into a sea of utter despair.

bb, stuck his hand to a table top once. While looking at the plastic kit it would not stick up into any recognizable shape. That reminds me of the book shelf BB, battled hard to attach to the wall. Upon Mrs B`s, return home she made mention that the plans were for making up a coffee table. You can laugh now . BB

The time has certainly flown by during the schools summer holidays and the children go back to another new term next week.

This Lesson a few days ago saw the formulation of stone or brick walls.
It reminded me greatly of the repetitive 100 lines to 1,000 lines i often had to write out after school.
O the boring slog of writing, `I must not wear turn up jeans at school', did so vex my head in such a desperate fashion. Well my poor sweet Mother a Widow bought them,and so darn it, i would wear them.
The girls did their small sized card and i on the other hand did a rather longer one for my bridge topic.

3 Hours Later i had indeed enough.

By then the students had long left for the last time.

Holidays are like that.
