Congrats Peter, guessed this was yours due to the Santa figure you did earlier :) Nice one and the only one really related to Christmas.

I’m speachless! :nono: I never would have thought that I ever could win a painting competition.

And all by accident! :? It was november and I had no intention to take part in this one, untill Remco pushed me to join this competition. That was at Crisis in Antwerp. There I bought this Ykreol set from Tom71 and started painting it. First Santa (wich went in duel with Paul), and then this entry. The stable took me 4 whole days to get it finished. The parts didn’t fit well, so it crashed two times! :angry1: The straw is made of cocos, and the groundcover of birthsand drybrushed with GW Graveyard Earth. The tree I bought at Crisis, and I gave it a brown drybrush and once a cover with Gryphonne Sepia wash. The leaves I didn’t touch.

So ladies and gentlemen I would like to thank a few persons:

- Remco for pushing me into this one
- Tom71 for selling me the set
- Thomas Dürrschmidt for explaining me how you groundcovers like this
- My wife and kids for letting me do this fine hobby
- All who voted for this entry
- And last but not least all who was in this competition, and special Bourbaki, as being a great runner up

@Paul and Mark: you didn’t?
@Paul, Maurice, Francesco, Mark and of course you to Dani; many thanks for your kind words

I try to post more pictures on Wednesday, but don’t expect close ups from the baby :nono: . He’s so ugly!

Congrats Peter

A shame you didn't let me win, but I'll be back
No a real nice entry Peter, and a bit proud to get you in to this!
And a close finish, so Bourbaki: a big hurray to you to (wasn't the birthday gift you wanted, but very close)

Thanks for being a part of this competition, hope to push you in to a duel again ;-)

Well, I don't know about that  but me gf and I loved this vignette!

Peter I really like the setting and camera work. The ground color is fitting, subtle, and realistic. It make the viewers focus immediate under the hut. I also like what you use for the animal color. They are muted on the back to give better difinition of the figures infront.

Excellent piece and congratulation my friend!

A very hard choice between two favourites, but He Is Born is what Christmas is about and that made me vote for this that last time. But I loved it from the start and voted. Never could guess this was yours! A very worthy winner!

Also congrats from Bonn, Peter. Very crisp work and a entry in the heart of the topic!
But the other finalist was also a nice entry and a good interpretation too. So :headbang: for both of you.
