Hi Colin,
Still you have a diorama in the room.
Mine is still under construction and far from finished.

Yay I have finally got my hands on a good camera (cell phone cameras don't count). Soon as I learn how to use it properly I will post images of figures, but meanwhile, here is my hobby room.

Image

Here's a closer shot of my desk. In the far left corner sit the Italeri Romans that I bought in 2001 that are still unfinished to this very day.

Image

This filing cabinet is where I place my Ancient, Medieval and Fantasy figures. There's a few 28mm LOTR stuff hidden at the back where no-one can see.

Image

Here's a closer view. There's big gaps where I took some away for gaming and haven't put them back yet (only 3 weeks later...)

Image

And here's the cabinet where my WW2 and moderns go. Not much room for more here. Maybe I need to retire some or maybe I need a bigger room.

Strikes me as you got a lot of wall space mate- I got me a glass fronted wall cabinet from ikea- 10 glass shelves each one about 12-14" by 6" and the whole thing cost about £40. Excellent for display, keeps the dust off and looks cool- ust think of all the space you'd free up!

Don't know if you have ikea, bu tthere is bound to be an quivalent- migh t be worth a thought!

Thanks for sharing your time and space mate!

My nearest Ikea is in Sydney which is a very long and wet drive. My bookshelf (not pictured) is actually from Ikea though, from my time in the wastelands of Pom-golia. :D

I need to buy a little tripod for my camera, then I can start taking some photos of my figures.

Here's my little hide out

I live in a 3 room apartment where the smaller bedroom has the function of hobby room. Here's where I spend about 80% of my time when at home, doing some modelling or stuff on the old pc. It is not as big and extensive as some of the others have, but I'm happy with it.

Pictures aren't all that, but that's my phone camera's fault, not mine...

Image
overview of the room, in the small bookcase in the corner is some research material, hope to get some more some day

Image
the workstation with paint, brushes, tools and the figures I'm currently working on; and some finished products, very old and gathering dust...

workstation #2

Little bit of stash on top of a small dresser with more paint and tools

Image
close up of the stash

Things that need to be changed in the future:
- pc screen > flat screen
- need to get a display case behind glass with room for books
- lazy chair for reading 8)

Well it could be.
When I was in the army (draft, 1981-5) I could chose to go to the Lebanon, but I didn't.

I hid it very well :joker: . Nah, you were probably looking for my collection of our leetle guys or at least a sign of it :joker: . And some of those records are crap. Bought cheap 'cause I didn't know what it was, found many good records that way too (Savage Grace, Beware of the dog, etc, etc,). The real reason: I had moved the pictures at photobucket and when I posted them again I threw in one more picture. You didn't miss it, it wasn't there. :-D

We've all bought a few of those...but, nothing looks better than a shelf full of records and that includes books.

Well done sir.

Yeah, we volunteered as well (we were one of the last groups of draftees).

Our sergeant-major in Yugo had also served in Lebanon with Unifil, they had a pretty rough time there. We had our moments as well, but still I wouldn't want to have missed it. If only because there's where I found my love...

... for tanks!

Been building them ever since!

Hi Maurice / Peter,
I served at an artillery unit. (like our Boney)
The big guns (M107, 175mm, range 40km)
The artillery zone in the Netherlands was too small for these monsters, so we had to go to Germany, Münster-Süd, just near Bergen-Hohne.
When you stood just behind the gun and it fired, you could follow the granade with your eyes for some seconds.
I was one of the few, who visited the observation towers from where you could see them exploding in the targer area.

Ah, the artillery, queen of the battlefield. When we were at the firing range near Harskamp we could sometimes here them practice, a couple of kilometers away from us. Awesome sound, even at that distance.

Hi Maurice,
That was in my year not possible for my unit.
Later the unit was equipped with M110's. (215mm)
And those guns could fire at 't Harde (the Dutch Artillery range).
But still about 8 km's far!!
At that time I lived in Hattem. With west wind you could hear them very good.
But now I live in Kampen, about 15 km north of it, and I don't hear anything.

That's because of the wind. I've got my office near of the shooting range and when the wind comes from that way, I always hear them.
The only time I see a gun is on parade

Yeah, pitty they don't use them anymore. Now they have those upgraded M109's, I think still some towed 155 mm field artillery and of course those wonderful PzH2000's

All we get in Leeuwarden is the sound of F-16s taking of, which is also very nice. Near Koarnjum is a great area for plane spotting, just next to the end of the landing strip.
