On Tuesday, 4 November, the Sultan of Oman began his official visit to Spain. He was received with state honours by the King and Queen at the Royal Palace in Madrid. And this humble forum member, taking advantage of his blissful retirement, was there to record as many videos as possible of the official events with his mobile phone.

As is customary in these cases, several professionals record these events for the different organisations involved (Royal Households of Spain and Oman, the Spanish Royal Guard, public and private television channels, etc.). And they do so from privileged positions, denied to mere mortals, obtaining excellent shots.

Once home, while downloading and analysing my recordings, I found one in the YouTube Spanish Royal Household TV channel, obviously of much better quality than mine.

Naturally, I watched the entire video, and imagine my surprise when I discovered that in one scene, while I was filming from outside, I appeared in it for a few seconds.

for me still 3 years before the full availability of my time (at least, the government just added 3 month ) !!!

This funny incident offers a whole new idea for your next project: What about including yourself as a miniature figure in one of your dioramas? A tourist, visitor etc. filming e.g. the Royal Guard or the Pope and his cardinals – why not, this happens every day…

Yes, Enrico, now that I have more free time, I can attend more of these official military events, and I've created a YouTube channel to share the videos I make with anyone who wants to enjoy them.

Regarding your retirement, I remember the anxiety I felt when I had only a few years left before mine, with the constant fear that the government would raise the retirement age. But I encourage you by telling that when the long-awaited day finally arrives, you will feel one of the greatest satisfactions possible after a long life dedicated to work.

You haven't said anything silly, Stephan. In fact, I've been meaning to make a diorama featuring myself for quite some time. Among the many converted figures I have waiting to be painted, there are two that represent me (both wearing glasses, as you'd expect): the first, wearing a teacher's 'uniform' (lab coat and marker pen in hand), is a conversion of several Caesar Miniatures figures; the second is a 3D print I bought from Shapeways Miniatures:
