1967 Israeli tank crews in 1/72?

Posted by Jesse on 26 Nov 2014, 14:37

I want to do a Israeli M48 tank for the Six day war in 1967. I also want crew figures with that (at least a commander) and that's were my problem starts. How did israeli tank tank crews look like in 1967 (dress/headgear)?
And are there suitable figures in 1/72; ready or to convert (not too difficult...)? Orion has some crew figures in their Israeli set, but they are way too modern I presume...

Please, take your time. My diorama projects (and I have many at the same time) take VERY long time to finish, so no need to hurry :) You are too kind, you deserve a big christmas present with lots of miniature goodies!

Till armpcm give you the required info, I give you some basic what I know about them

Yes, you are right, the orion set seems too modern
Zahal tank crewmen wore several type of headgear: baret, "kepi-like" headgear, and most importantly converted/upgraded WW 2 US tank crew crash helmet added radio equipment, almost all the time /w protective glasses,

color of the uniform was khaki, or yellow green, in the hot summer of '67 they fought in rolled up shirtsleeves in the tanks

So.. all you have to do is to find US tank crewman wearing the emblematic crash helmet, but don't wear the also emblematic tanker jacket eto, and make some conversion for the radio equipment ),
and/or
find a baret wearing tank commander(in shirt), and equip/sculpt the protective glass

both solution seems easy as kiss a hand... :joker:
well I am jokin'
sorry but I can't help figure ideas, maybe 8th army tank crew??
if there is any kind of that..

This one a real good shot of the head gear these tankers wore.
