I paint as complete unit so on their horses, simply because of the glue I use
to put it together. I have done Cavalry as separate parts only to have to do more retouching when assembled.

You should be able to post a reply to the earlier thread and add more pictures in the new post. Sorry, I can't help with the feathers, but I am sure some one who does know will give you some options soon.

Thanks, not sure if it was a glitch or "user error" I will try harder though.
( thinks black would look to much like a funeral procession )

Be carefull in the use of the colour purple whan painting ancients. This was a VERY expensive colour to produce and reserved for the higher ranks of the nobility, hence roman senators wearing purple as a sign of wealth and therefore rank.

I found a source that describes the horse represented (half the Italian Allied cavalry set) is of Oscan origin they describe all the bits and pieces put on the horse but neglect to mention feather colors..ah well I keep searching.
Thanks for the input Paul.

Very nice!
Are the horses' head plates original or did you add them on yourself? They look really good.

The horses and riders are HaT's Italian Allied cavalry and the other is HaT's Roman cavalry set. the Horses are all molded as one piece, I really like the sculpting job done on the Italian allies very clean and crisp looks sharp painted up. Thanks to all !

If anyone's interested, the Roman republic's cavalry plus Allies is finished
someday I'll figure out how to do wide angle close-ups with my camera if it is indeed capable of that.

Thank you. ("Basing? we don't need no stinkin basing,I don't have to show you my stinkin basing!" ),one of my fav movies. All I have at the moment is card stock which works well enough for my table. I was wondering though about the Zvezda Roman Republic Cavalry set, I've seen animal insignia on the shields was wondering if anyone makes shield transfers for these or am I stuck doing it free hand? pictures or links to more shield designs would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They don´t do anything in the pre-imperial period for Roman cavalry. No-one does in 1/72nd. Or at least I´ve not found one yet.
