Amazing progress on this wonderful project, Enrico. The walls look brilliant, as do the archers who’ll be manning them. You can really tell they’re there from all the arrows stuck in the attackers’ shields and protections.

and here are the first 4 assyrians.
These 3D figures are fantastic when you have to paint them, the precision of the pattern for clothes and shields are really non-humans (OK, they are computer made :xd: ).
The only "problem" is that is extremely difficult to reach with the brush the recessed zones of the back of the shields or internal lof the legs, where anyway the printed details are always super !

While the phrase "the Assyrians are coming" would have created panic in Antiquity, for us today it sounds very promising! This project is getting better and better...

"The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee."

- Lord Byron.

I had thought that accessibility with a brush might be an issue with 3D printed figures. I am having trouble with some multipart Zvezda figures myself at the moment.
Regardless, they look great.

Those first painted Assyrians look amazing, Enrico. The enemies besieged in their city can start trembling in fear of them now.

Thanks guys :-D
the Assyrians have really a bad reputation: except the military organization and capability, there is nothing other that is remember as positive in their empire ! Something like the Attila 's Huns (but for a much longer period).

A new bunch of Assyrians :-D
I hope the pictures are visible !
First a group of slaves/workers pushing the ram to the door

then a set of warriors with a large variety of shields

the 3D figures are really superb, but there are some problems....
the material is hard but brittle, trying to reduce the base of one of these sappers the full block of the base with the foot detached  fortunately the long vest will solve the problem

Image

Another problem is that the arcs but especially their cords are really too thick. Considering the bad experience above I didn't risk a trasformation using a more realistic "old style" arc available from other donors figures.
I just tried to reduce the visible impact painting not the whole cord but only a slice... the result is not perfect but better than nothing. Have you some suggestion ?

:coffee: Wonderful figures painted with a certain style!
Well guys we are all unique in our own way of painting and presenting!
:eh: Eh! They are? Of course they all are. :eh: ok.
:sst: now then info is coming and here it is.
:coffee: Upon realising that i could not view this artistic venture,i found strangly the only way i could actualy see them was to reduce my pc picture to 25%. Which was a good fact to realise, and pass on, but then being half blind i than could not read the wording or even the comments. So back to 150% picture in order to achieve that end. Topsy Turvy comes to mind.
However in spite of all i had to do,i stand by first comment to the artist author who had echieved a certain success  that i could never match.

i hope this helps others.BB

Thanks all of you, guys !
next pictures will be further downsized to 200 kB (this time there were some at 800-900kB), may be they will remain inside the "field of view" of the screen ...

The figures look good in the pictures thanks they remain inside the screen’s ‘field of view’, Enrico, even though the images are cropped. ;-)

I think the trick is, as you quite rightly point out, to reduce the size of the original photo before posting it.

I think the painting solution you’ve chosen is very elegant and effective, Enrico. In my case, being a lot of perfectionist, I would have risked cutting off the arm with the bow at the sleeve and replacing it with one from another plastic figure. I realise that’s a personal quirk of mine and would take a long time if I had to do it to a large number of figures, but that’s just how fussy I am (which is almost more of a curse than a blessing).

Apart from all these technical issues, the figures are, of course, just as spectacular as all the previous ones.

Thanks Santi !!
I lost a couple of figures trying to cut arms or weapons and swap them... the 3D material is hard and fragile, and quite often when I try a cut a crack starts breaking the body of the figure.
You can see the sapper above (opening the picture in another view you can see the second "good" one , trying simply to trim the base the crack destroyed also the two foots !!!

Enrico, I haven’t actually got my hands on any 3D-printed figures yet, but given how expensive they are and what you’ve said about how fragile they are when it comes to conversion (and you know how much I love converting figures), it’s helping me decide not to give them a go.
