Assyrians are well known for the ferocity they used in creating their empire, and they greatly improved the art of siege and capture cities: so here is a diorama showing an Assyrian siege.
I selected a wood base, I like its shape, but this will lead to more efforts when working on it, much stronger surface with respect to the cork I normally use.

The walls are from the Miniart medieval castle box I used also in previous dioramas, and the use of stone means that my diorama is located in the north zone of the Assyrian borders (about present Kurdistan) and not in the south (Babilon or similar cities) where the walls were made of clay bricks.
Having to pass from European medieval to ancient middle east walls, I decided to change the shape of the merlons, also to have the height reduction needed to fit the completed diorama in the transparent box I use to protect it from dust.

Another important part of the diorama is the ram, I use the Orion one.

Some of the figures are “recycled” from different old boxes I used in the past (greeks, troyans, persians, sumerians, salassi), with conversions to have better final results

But the eye-catchers will be the new Assyrians from Linear, they are the first 3D printed figures I use, they are astonishing for poses and details, a real gamechanger!!!! Here the whole set of figures

stay tuned
