P IV Möbelwagen Scratch

Posted by JurgenH on 25 Apr 2025, 15:40

Hello
As already announced, here is the scratchbuilt Flakpanzer IV Möbelwagen. The chassis is from Revell PIV J, the Flak43 is also from Revell. It is taken from the P III Ostwind. Now that the construction of the originally planned 2cm Flakvierling is finished, it's time to model the Möbelwagen.
I have assembled the chassis of the PIV until the changes appear. Then I sawed off the armored superstructure. Only the engine part remained. At first the mounting holes for the skirt holders in the chain plates still had to be filled.

I have now made the driver's and radio operator's sections. Then I built the lower side panels.
The next step was the attachments for the track link, on the front of the steering brakes.
Including the support for the upper side wall when it is completely folded down.

After pulling in the fighting compartment floor, I detailed it further.

You'd almost think the WW2 German army created this plethora of various vehicles to provide a challenge for modellers.

This is an interesting project & I look forward to future posts.

I have found two pictures of my build.

Now it's time for the base for the Flak/ 43. The base consists only of plastic remnants.

As always with your projects, Jürgen, I'm fascinated by the deep modifications you make to the models to make them as realistic as possible. Well done!

Hello, dear model making friends. Here's a little update on the furniture van.

Here iare pictures of the finished gun base. All parts are scratchbuilt from plastic scraps.

Image

I have marked the place where the base should go. I will assemble the flak in single parts and then glue them into the model.

Image

Here I have detailed the front panel. Holder for the towing cable, support for the front dropside and the attachment of the reserve chain. The towing hooks have been drilled out and fitted with a bolt.

Here are the made side panels with attachments and the self-made reserve barrel of the anti-aircraft gun. The barrel is made in 2 parts. All turned with the mini drill and profiles.

The first side panels are glued. This gives me even better access for painting the interior.

In this picture you can also see the guides for the radio antenna.
So that's all the news from the furniture van.

Hallo Jürgen,
I am always wondering how vast our hobby is. You make these microscopic mechanical constructions. It is like magic in my eyes. The result is always stunning. Absolutely ,not my cup of tea, but I enjoy your progress just the same. And very instructive
Viele beste Grüsse
Michael

Hello Michael, and everyone else
Nice that you like my builds. I used to be a locksmith in my job. Everything I built had to fit.
Now it's just a bit smaller.
In a few days there will be an update of the furniture van.
Best wishes
Juergen

Of course! It clearly shows in your approach & its outcome. Meticulous.

Brilliant attention to detail on your furniture wagon.

It’s a very nice little vehicle to model.

Best wishes,

Chris

Hello, i think it is time for a littel Update from my Möbelwagen.

Now it's time for the flak itself. The 3.7cm Flak 43 is taken from the Panzer II Ostwind kit. Since it is the stripped down version of the Ostwind, many parts were not available or were reproduced in minimized form. All parts that are not from the gray plastic of the kit, I have added. Including the base for the shell catcher, which I modified. Which of course was once again incorrectly designed by Revell. I then built a completely new basket from plastic strips and curtain fabric and painted it. Afterwards it is no longer so good for painting. The new part is next to the kit part with the white edge.

Hello
The furniture van is now in the final phase.
The vehicle is painted in dark yellow by Tamiya.

I then sprayed green and red stripes freehand with the airbrush.

The track is from Revell, and difficult to handle. As I already had to glue the superstructure on, Revell added another one on top. There are ejector marks in the area of the support rollers which reduce the gap for placing the track. I was thrilled. I then ground off the ejector marks with my smallest dental cutter (head 0.5 mm). After that, the chain fitted perfectly.
Many kit parts got new places, many had to be made. There were 13 positions on the chassis and 5 on the flak that had to be changed.
The rivets on the struts / supports / hinges were missing on the protective shield. They can only be seen from the outside. I marked the rivets there, pierced them and drilled a small hole. I glued asmall ball from a water filter into this hole and covered it again with glue.
Despite everything, it was fun. So here are the last photos from the construction phases.
The next report will be the gallery post.
