The band's final figures are now ready: the three buglers. Here they appear together:




With these three musicians, the band is complete.

After all the conversions, these are the only figures of the 44 in the original Airfix set that remain intact:



And these are the remains of the various figures I used as donors of instruments, legs, and arms for other musicians, as well as bases and other leftover elements:



Once I can take some pictures of the full band, I will begin the most complicated task for me, the painting.

Your conversions are far from a massacre, more like Frankenstein done with class and purpose. What you can do to modify these figures is what gets others inspired to at least try and do similar. Fantastic work as always Santi.

Now the band is complete and in formation it looks splendid, even with the original colour of the figures:







The next step will be to prime all the figures and then I can paint the first one of them as a test of the colours and technique to be used. I think it will be the officer in charge.

This project looks impressive even in the unpainted stage, and I am very curious to see it finally painted. The amount of work in your conversions is really unbelievable!

Thank you very much for your encouragement, Jan, Stephan, and Chris.

I primed all the figures with a black base coat, as most of the instruments are metallic and the uniforms are dark blue. This makes them look like musical spectres in formation:







I have decided that I will paint each figure individually, even if that means it takes longer to finish. I have already started on the first figure, the Colonel director, and it is proving more difficult than I thought, given its small size and the lack of detail sculpted into the original figure, although I added some with white glue.

The first of the series is always the more difficult, then your learning curve rapidly ramp up
I normally start with the figures in the last rows or positioned in the back, so that first errors are less visible at the end.
