Netting, just a thought:

;-)

Many thanks for the suggestion, Peter. I started with garlic clove net packets but found the plastic mesh too elastic. I'm sure they will have a use one day (and I like garlic so its a win-win).

The bridal mesh is fine but seems less elastic, and its was cheap (I have enough to mesh helmets till doomsday...).

I will continue to look for useful items but for this project modelling the jungle is the biggest worry [smile]

Many thanks for the kind words, Chris.

I have posted a message regarding gluing heads with the Locktight two action system.

It seems to work very well and you do not need pins.

I will have a look as that would be a super solution.

Your experiences with Hat plastic is not unusual.

To be fair, the Hat horses were OK, but the wagons failed completely. The Accurate stuff was worse with a total failure. Its all cleaned off so will give it another go (possibly with Halfords car primer).

Digressing for a moment, Plastic Soldier Company have started to release British stuff that has been printed. They are superb and no doubt 20mm will be in the pipeline.

Nice. Their vehicles are great, and I have lots of their Russian stuff. I toyed with swapping to them for the carriers but that will be another project as I like the little Airfix carriers... [smile]

You have got me thinking…oh no.

Ha. Thats the danger - your superb Austrians has rattled my wargaming goldfish brain to dig into the Napoleonic stash of shame...

An update.

Japanese Invasion Transport - horse drawn

Image

Image

The Japanese supply wagon horses have been redone, tried three different versions of washes etc on Tamiya Red Brown base. Not sure which is favourite yet. The Saddle Brown version in the middle was too red initially but mellowed with a drybrush and has more depth.

For the limber crews (the limbers are ACW), I have used the ACW crew, as the kepi is a decent stand-in for the forage cap. Bare-chested helps with the illusion. Hopefully, this will work out OK.

Japanese support stand figures are ready for their washes, and basing. One figure per base with props.

Barrels for support stand props.

Update for the Empire forces:

KrohKol (Brigade HQ) now has transport (all repainted 1/76 diecast)

Image

Kitchen van from the RASC company (the 'Krohkol Kanteen', which is a repurposed Austin fire truck), serving tea and bread (Teh & Roti).
Signals truck as the staff radio truck.
Command car for the Brigade HQ staff
RASC ammunition lorry.

62 Battalion (5th/14th Punjab), also now has battalion transport complete:

Battalion HQ has 1 car (in my case a 1/76 diecast Tilly repainted), and three repainted diecast 15cwt trucks:

Next up will be the rest of the Brigade RASC company from 2nd/3rd Australian Motor Transport Company, and support stands.

Cheers!

An non-mainstream topic requires some lateral thinking. I'm sure this problem solving is half the enjoyment.

I congratulate you on your solutions so far - the ACW limber riders were a good call.

I must ask; why the Malayan campaign?

Marvellous work and the normally useless Revell riders are an inspirational move.

The whole project is looking fabulous.

I was looking at Mr. Bond’s site and his scenery is fantastic. Worth a look so you can pinch some ideas!

Keep up the good work.

Brilliant.
