Work in Progress

Realization of the coat of arms of a knight.

Posted by stephane42 on 25 Sep 2022, 20:28

Good morning all !!
I return to show the very slow and methodical work to make a knight with all its blazon.

I have already tried to do it entirely with paint but for some coats of arms, it was difficult or even very difficult and the result was not really up to what I wanted...

I tried another method which seems to me to give much more realistic results. Your turn to judge.
I show you one of the knights I made: the Duke of Brittany :-D

Here is the horse at the start...

Are they rub-down transfers or the water-slide type?

I would also be interested to know, Stephane. The effect you have achieved on this Duke of Brittany figure is outstanding! :yeah:

I think it's tremendous what you're doing to yourself. It's the great art of small painting. Someone should copy it first. Are your square eyes still okay? :yeah: :yeah: :yeah:

Great result! from which manufacturer is the figure? I cant recognize it at the moment. Very good technique to achieve a thoroughly perfect finish!

Good morning all !
Thank you for your feedback !
It's actually water-based decals that I do myself. I am making my fourth knight.

Here is the last finished knight: Philippe, Duke of Orleans, son of the King of France, Saint Louis.
The first to enter the running for the Cambrai tournament of 1269.

This looks amazing.
Perhaps there is a transfer production business in your future?

Hello everyone.
Here are some news from the slowly progressing diorama.

The realization of the field for the tournament with the double barriers.

Realization of banners in parallel. All done on the computer...it took me a while to handle the software. But the results are there.

Don't hesitate if you have any comments...
I'm going back to the studio... I still have a lot of work to do... :)

Great progress with this. I'm sure those flags will look good once attached.

Your knights are truly exceptional Stephane. Amazingly precise layout of patterns. That must be tricky on large irregular curves. The pose of your first knight is great the way he is looking back to see if he shook his opponent.
Cheers,

Superb work and the flags look excellent.

It will be interesting to see how this project evolves.

I saw part of a Knights Tale a few days ago which showed just this subject matter.

Mine you Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel also springs to mind.

Best wishes,

Chris
