Afrika Korps Italeri

Posted by Machno on 10 Aug 2022, 22:26

Hello everyone
in the last spam attack I lost my previous account and so I decided to start publishing again with this new profile.
These are the first finished figures of my latest project (nice sculpt but "unusual" poses).
Just missing a coat of matte varnish.

These look excellent. The job you've done with the wash and highlights really makes these uniforms stand out.

Those are fantastic. What types of paints did you use?

@ Rich: many thanks :)

@Bluefalchion: Thanks! I used the Warlord vallejo model color guide:
Yellow Green and Desert Sand for uniform
Stone Grey for webbing, canvas and bread bag
Green Ochre for helmets and gasmask container
+ Sepia Wash (mixed 50/50 whit thinner medium) and Iraqui Sand for highlights

Wow! Your painting of these figures is much better than the figures themselves! Stunning!

Very nice painting and you seem to have done a good job removing the mould lines as well.

@ Susofrick : Many Thanks!

@Hobbyinovator : Thank you! Italeri plastic is good enough for cutting and finishing with sandpaper.
Unfortunately for a couple of figures I still made a swap head due to a bad loss of detail on the faces.

You have made an amazing paintjob on these wonderful Italeri figures, Tiziano. I love the precision of your brush strokes and the fantastic shadows and highlights applied. :notworthy:  :notworthy:

Also, welcome to the forum with your new account. ;-)

Santi.

Whilst some of poses are a bit theatrical your painting brings them to life.

Super work indeed.

Best wishes,

Chris

I painted these miniatures months ago along with the previous ones.
I still have to give a coat of matt varnish and complete the bases.
I'm very lazy when it comes to taking pictures...

Not since the bad old days of the pre-2017 Mars sets have I seen such excellent work on such bad figures!

The machine guns with no visible form of ammunition and the tailored boot-cut pants that never existed are just two of the glaring flaws for that set, but I still kind of love it anyway.

A small cut off from the sprue would make a fine enough drum of bullets for all the machine guns. Well it was something i used many a time over with trivial Italeri mistakes.

Impressive painted figures. BB

I find that I totally agree with my previous comment! Would love to see your work on better figures. But you do marvels with these!
