Hi Voukerous,

Welcome to this great forum. I found it a couple of days ago, and already feel very at home here. Hope you like it too. I don't know the ins and outs of this site fully yet, but I think either Benno or a veteran member will be happy to guide you around.

You're right about that Pat! It's not only a friendly, but also a very helpfull forum  Benno, the moderators and other members will always try to give a decent answer on your questions.

I had a question about your paint cans stocked in the way you do it. Don't you have problems taking them out of that wood, They look if they stick very deep in it. And what books do you use, like the ones you're showing on the picture.

PS: clean up your working space a little bit, that works much better   :joker:

The paint cans have to stickin that deep. because the planks are drawers. I got all my paint in a selfmade cabinet. It's not really space efficient, but this way i can group colors to the project i am working on.

The books on the table are "Warfare in the classical world" by John Warry and 'historiche uniformen' by fred and liliane funcken.

This actually a cleaned up desk. You should see the rest of my studio...

That's a good idea Pat  And I thought I saw a Funcken book on the right side. Sometimes I get them at the library to search some good examples to paint my figures.

BTW is this known by someone, but the Funckens have drawn also comic books!

About your studio, spare us the "horror" please ;-)

I was reading somewhere else that Funcken stuff is being rubbished now for being inaccurate, not sure how true this is, maybe if it is the prices will go down and aI can afford to buy some

The quality of the Funcken books varies. Some information is totally unreliable or obsolete. They tend to be better on French topics. Their best book imo is the one on the French revolutionary armies, published in French only. It is long OOP, but it's been put online somewhere, I would have to find the link again.

Nice looking books. Strange though looking at a book like that, the sound of the page being turned etc. Are these E- books like that?

Hi allhere some pictures of the diorama i want to make with my dutch revolt troops. It's supposed to depict an excercise. The strength of the Dutch army of those days lied in the endless excercices Prince Maurits made his troops do.

Very good, I´m going to have to start collecting this period, the mixture of pikes and guns (as in your dio) very appealing

Very clever layout. Combines best view on single figures with a still convincing formation. Maybe one more row for the pikemen?

Extra pikemen can work. It's a very small group (19 fig) but could depict a colonel getting some of his troops battle ready by letting them excercise under drillmasters
i didn't glue them yet, so i still can change the composition
