Zirrian's Work in Progress

If you've seen my finished stuffs' thread, you know I'm occasionally painting aircrafts too. This Hasegawa KI-61 has been assembled and basecoated for a couple of months now, decided to spray it today. Highlighted the JA Green with some yellow, but apparently added too much and it became a bit too olive-y, reinforced by the yellowish lightbulbs I have. Hopefully the weathering will tone it down a notch, but in general I'm pretty happy with it so far, and as always, Tamiya paints spray very well.

Well, the decals were trash...they look bad, wrinkled, really not happy. Left off the big red circles from the wings in protest...it will be a beaten up plane parked on the side of an runway or something. Techmod decals ready for the next one, for this I will leave it this way, somehow I'm always unlucky with planes...either the assembly, decals or painting gets screwed up, something's always bad.

Well, to wake up to such terrific news is disheartening especially how stuff is happening very close to me, but ended up varnishing and gluing the KI-61 together...will add some rigging to the radio, gentle weathering, and the diorama base. Not the best I've done so far, but now I am pretty okay-ish with it.

Good modelling Zirrian. I lile your style. And chipping and weathering on the KI/61 is very well done.

Thank you. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm enjoying making airplanes, and amassed enough to last me for quite some time to build all :)

First Italeri American infantryman with a bazooka, most probably for a Tunisia force. Mostly painted him to try out the US uniform colors from AK 3rd gen, they are quite good, especially when compared to the older Figures range of paints.

3D printed Tetrarch, prototype print, some things will change in the final version (i.e. no separate part for running gear, different parts distribution, perhaps some different parts based on historical photos, etc. Regardless, it looks like a Tetrarch, smells like a Tetrarch, fights like a Tetrarch :)

Very realistic looking tank, I see no problems with the print.

As you asked so nicely...

A pair of HaT FT-17s with Hotchkiss MGs. Pretty bad models, so next time I would print or buy the Flyhawk kit, but for now they will do.

More printed goodies - Medbury HYW English archers and Dark Age Saxon Huscarls, both printed at 85% of the originals' size to match 1:72. One spear failed, and the bows are a bit too thin, so I need to learn how to use Meshmixer to beef them up, but otherwise I am happy how they look. From next month Medbury will release Scots on Patreon, so you can expect some medieval minis from me too :D

edit.: absolutely blown away by the detail
