Next update, I added two more "black Kürassiers" to get some for variety and life to the scenery:

Next I gonna look for some suitable infantery to add and I will add more details to the dioarama base.

This is really looking excellent. I'm very jealous of the groundwork you have achieved.

I think the same. Each new figure so well painted added to the diorama increases its beauty, dombom. :notworthy:

Great work.

Do you have any recommendation for such officers?
I haven't found any such figures, I could make some with green stuff though.
But preferable would be a set of 3 or 4 such three quarter armour soldiers.
An alternative would be to put a gun powder or a transport wagon near the canons to add some more extra flavour.

I don't have a specific recommendation for officers on foot in 3/4 armour , but maybe one of the 1/72 metal manufacturers make these. However, any 'personality' figures would add interest, and these do not necessarily have to be armoured .......or indeed officers! And in fact, you may decide that there are enough figures already. As with a painting, it is easy to add too much, and maybe the diorama is as good as complete now.

Yeah, the diorama is almost complete. I added some more tiny things and I would add a maximum of 3 more figures. But it can stay the way it is at the moment. I gonna add some more details on the base and then I will see what else to do or I might start the next diorama :-)

Added more details on the base and some camp equipment. It finally become to look more realistic.
I'm already quite happy with the current results.

Some more progress has been achieved or is on the way.

A canon or wagon wheel for replacement has been casted:

Fog of war has been added ;-)
There were reports that after heavy fighting you barely could see friend or foe.
Imagine you survived the war, but got sick a couple of years later, because you inhaled all the gunpowder smoke... What a sad fate.

Otherwise some more "hopefully" eye-candy (close shots):

A little bit of touch-up is still necessary. Gonna do it the next days and then start a new project and might come back to this one when I can find new figures or got new ideas.

It helped a lot :-)
I like the color and it's cheap for the amount you get.
Thanks for this great tip ;-)

By the way, how is your TYW project going on?

Lovely piece of work, good and busy.

The interesting thing about gunpowder is not breathing it in, it is what happens the next morning. The next morning after breathing in black powder gun smoke (gunpowder smoke) my tent usually becomes unbearable with the smell - it gets into your guts, I will let you work out what happens after that.
It's bad.
Very bad.
Bad enough that Mrs Pickers often makes me leave the tent.

Some tiny updates:

Improved canonshot. I added some grey and black tones.
It ain't too bad now. Not 100% satisfied, but gonna keep it like this for first.

Added the spare wheel:

And now it's on you guys, to give me some more feedback and input on what I shall improve.
Is something missing?
What would you add?
Something typical about the time, which should be changed or added?
Would you do something in a different way?

Hi Dombom
I watched all your development and must say « chapeau » - my reverence. Great progress. The result is marvelous. Your final gunshot is a special treat much to my liking.
Other improvements?
All a matter of taste I ´ld say.
Just ideas:
Add the effects of received shot
Add other small scenes, people interacting by talk, distributing something (wine for me), orders
Helping
Sleeping
Camp followers
My opinion: the lance party behind the horse barrier does not make so much sens to me, double protection and can easily be avoided. The lance party wants space and room to manoeuver!
But hey, nice little jewel, colours good, landscaping good
Can only cheer you on

I think that this looks really good. You have caught the mood of such a situation very well. One thing I did notice is that no one is standing behind the gun that has just fired, when those things recoil they're travelling at a decent speed, getting hit by one would be like being hit by a truck.

Speaking of recoil, that would be the only suggestion I would make.
Gunners, being lazy so and so's used to set it up so that the guns did not recoil too far back (which meant that they would have to man-handle the gun back into place), and place a back stop so that the gun would roll back up to it and stop. This was like a wicker band behind the gun. However, I would not suggest spoiling the work you have done to add one.

Keep up the good work man, look forwards to seeing more of your stuff. :yeah:

Thats a great suggustion ;-)
Unfortunatelly I think it will be difficult to add it indeed without changing much on the current setup.
However, I will keep it in mind for the next project :-)
Otherwise, you are perfectly right with the recoil, so I kept the space behind the gun free and you can see from the second canon, that it recoiled backwards after it's (not) shown shot.
The two guys working on it prepare it for loading and bring it back into position.
I like it when people are beware of the tiny details, which such a scenery should include.

Thank you for your suggestions :-)
A few comments from my side:

Add the effects of received shot
--> good idea. I will think about how I can do that in a good way

Add other small scenes, people interacting by talk, distributing something (wine for me), orders
Helping
Sleeping
Camp followers
--> Since it looks like the enemy forces are just starting a counter attack, I think sleeping (except for utterly drunken guys) and camp followers are wrong at the frontline. However, I would love to have some soldiers commiting orders. Didn't find the right ones yet though. Still looking for a three quarter armoured officer to fill this role.

My opinion: the lance party behind the horse barrier does not make so much sens to me, double protection and can easily be avoided. The lance party wants space and room to manoeuver!
--> This is something i was thinking about as well. The only reason why the lance party stand there would be to block the entrance to prevent the enemy gets behind the front line. The lancers marching to the canons, are supposed to support the lancers in front of the canons, which are not shown here. But still I'm wondering if I should remove the horse barrier...
