Do you have plans already which materials you will use? Seems like a lot of scratch-building is ahead of you...
to answer your question about materials :
I have reorganized our place and this is what i have gathered lately. Lots of leftovers and other stuff i have just laying around. So i wll use al of this
and now the next step.
I started with removing the paper from foamboard pieces so that only the foamboard remains. Then i cut out the windows and doors.
the material is not so firm so i glued it on some pieces of leftover wood.
next i cutted up pieces of wood, little popsickle stick or coffee stirrers or something like that to make wooden planks etc.
And i made little stones from thick paper (karton)
this i then glued in place and voila....a hobbit village-ish
Next step is painting. First a grey stone base color (just white wall paint mixed with some black.
Then a white sort of drybrush. I use an old stif brush and just dip it on.
then i got carried awyay a little bit and forgot to make pictures but the next steps were
painting the wood brown
drybrushing the wood with a lighter brown
give some of the smal stones around the windows/doors another colour. in this case red and yellow and drybrush them with grey.
I decided to give the houses different colours and gave them a very thin wash. the top one for example was done with a very much thinned green colour.
so thats al for now. Next step will be the making of the base for wich i will use leftover isolation material.
Laterrrrrrrrr
