OK, back to work!
These dried plants from a neighbor’s garden will serve as some sort of Araucaria-like conifer. I had shown them before:

In the meantime, they got a dark-green undercoat; the final version will be flocked with dark-green static grass:

Very nice landscape. I hope your neighbour sleeps while you are in his garden and picking dried plants.

Hi Stefan,
what will be the story? Romans warped in time, dinos woke up because of some apocalyptic event (?), Romans found a lost island - yes, that's the title.
Now you have 3 protagonists - Romans, our natural heroes, dinos and now, the prehistoric jungle. Quite a show there
encouraging greetings
Michael

Maybe the spider came from there?

No no no, I’m not doing this, not anymore! These plants were to be discarded at the end of the fall season; I got them as an official gift!

Okay, today I want to talk about the topic of waterfalls to you.
I had the idea of using polyester cotton (the stuff I had used before for making dust or fire), soaked with Faller model water (Faller #171661). The first tests did not look that impressive (and it's tricky to take pictures of the stuff, too):

These pics give a better impression of what I want to achieve:

So it took a number of experiments to get an acceptable version. And there is the real danger that I might be running out of polyester cotton, so I had to be careful. As this picture demonstrates, my stock will suffice for a mere 5000 further tests at most (please note the 1/72 figure on top for size comparison):

But fortunately, I am getting closer to the desired result:

I have no photos, but I can tell the story. There are not that many "steps" to speak of:
1. Get a small amount of polyester cotton into the desired shape
2. Apply the model water with a brush on one side
3. Let dry for 24 h
4. turn the thing around and apply the model water onto the other side
5. Let dry again
And you need a suitable surface from which the soaked cotton can be removed easily; I used a glass plate covered with plastic wrap.

It looks like it might make a good waterfall to me! I get a cascady (that's a new word, cascady) feel from it.

A very interesting contribution!
It seems there is something special about this polyester cotton that makes people invent new words: Initially, I wanted to write that this result

looks sufficiently "waterfally", but then I decided otherwise. Perhaps this was a mistake!

Right. Now everything is painted, and the assembly of all this stuff has begun, starting with the plants:

Image

Image

Some very first impression, the whole thing is still far from finished:

Image

From above, you can see the riverbed, still without water (and not cascady or waterfally yet). And – hey, what is this?

Image

No! No, no, no, this is a strictly gorilla-free diorama! This interruption of our presentation is completely in-ape-ceptable.

Image

…So much for the WIP story of this diorama. See you in the Gallery section soon*!

*I hope everybody understands that we are talking about geological timescales here.

Update: The diorama is finished! In the end, the project became a bit tedious: Applying that model water in many, many thin layers, each needing many, many hours to dry – no hobby for the impatient, that’s for sure.
But right now, everything is ready and I am busy taking the pictures.
And by now, it’s certain that the ankylosaurus will play no role in the story. Sorry.
But somehow that nasty beast has found a way to squeeze itself into my older dioramas!

Image

That’s so annoying.
Annoying and even highly inappropriate at times.
For instance, the next picture is probably the most inappropriate dinosaur photo of all times.
Or at least the most inappropriate photo showing an ankylosaurus and the female section of a Roman bath of all times:
