Huibs T34 tank project

Thanks, Peter!

Paint and decals
With the building process finished, I could start painting. For a change I choose a camouflage pattern, which you do not often see on Soviet tanks.

Image
First green overall. (Humbrol 117)

Image
Then a camouflage pattern of red brown. (Revell 84) (How different the colors show on different photographs! Truth is in the middle)

Image
Some decals on the turret (from the old Esi/Revell kit).

Image
Some rusty tracklinks hooked to the turret, partly covering the decals.

Image
And some chipping in grey and green. Ready for a gloss coat.

It is amazing how that red-brown changes that green! Love your work.

Thank you, Steve and Peter!

Weathering
During the next phase the camp pattern became much more inconspicious. :-D

Image
After a layer of gloss a dirty filter of khaki oil paint was sloshed on the model. As the effect was too subtle after one layer a second treatment with the same followed. The tank looks very dirty now, and camo pattern is toned down.

Image
A second layer of gloss served to fixate the filter. Then a dark brown pointwash was applied and all detail drybrushed using two tones of light green.

Image
Weathering was finish with streaking of rust (red brown), rain (white) and oil/fuel (dark brown).

Image
Other side of the turret.

Image
Hull.

Image
The present state. Ready for wheels and tracks.

The cammo pattern is toned down a lot. To much maybe? :eh:

Still love this model! Go on Huib!

Thanks Peter!

Wheels

Some work on the wheels.

Image
The roadwheels on display. The steel wheels on the left have the wholes widened with a drill already. The others have to be done still.

Image
Hubcovers for the drive and tension wheels.

Image
Ready for paint.

Image
Painted

Image
Weathered.

Image
The wheels glued in place. It took some effort using drills, files and knives to line them out. For strength I included some 1,2mm iron axles on strategic places.

Image
On its wheels. Now for the tracks.
