French revolutionary wars - French horse artillery test

Posted by CPN on 24 Oct 2020, 12:11

Hi everyone,
I am not as active as I'd like in my painting and sharing but I managed to finalise a two crews battery for FRW.
I think the conversions are good enough...from a distance.

You underestimate your work.

These are lovely conversions and well painted.

I like the facial detail as it gives them further individuality.

Best wishes ,

Hi everyone and thank you for encouraging words.
I did use Revell 7YW heads and Hat Prussian hussars.
I also added saber and sabretache made in cardboard to the original Italeri figures which to my taste are very incomplete.
I hope this helps.

You are totally right and you've done a great job !
If you plan to use artillery piece from the same box, please do not use the limber with the trunk, it would be totaly wrong, Italeri has made so much mistake with this set

Hi Chris ,
Merci beaucoup.
For italeri, I agree 100% with you. The lumber is wrong . I plan to used the Zvezda gun from the small set hopefully adding some small modifications but very small

I wish someone could make a proper imperial horse artillery with correct gear...
Cheers everyone.

Nice idea and a great conversion. Also the painting looks terrific!

The limber in that set was discussed on TMP some time ago. Apparently it is an authentic French limber but perhaps just not a very commonly used one.

Graeme do you have the link ?
I made a quick search without finding the post.

I do not see in anyway how this could be a french limber of the napoleonic era?
Not of Gribeauval pattern, not of Year XI pattern, not of other country sometimes use in french arsenal (Austrian, prussian, bavarian limbers are different)
It only look like a french Valée limber, introduced in 1827...

Hello.

The link you are referring to is from ADM’s 1812 project.

You very kindly uploaded the lovely model pictures showing the correct equipment.

The Italieri fantasy Napoleonic limber and with its gunners giving the train drivers a good whipping is just as bad as their ACW version.

Best wishes,

Chris
