Posted by Speira Miniatures on 05 Aug 2020, 11:28

Hi all

We on Speira Miniatures has decided to finally make the requested cavalry, and we will start with the Confederate side.

So we wonder what is missing and what would you like to see?

Poses?
Special uniforms?
Weapons?
Running horses?
Dead horses / riders?

So please let us pick your brains and make what you always has wanted to see!

Sounds great! Some casualties, both horses and riders are needed. I am still looking for figures that can fit my little Little Big Horn scene. I have Massimo's great figures, but there is always room for more (when is there NOT room for more???). I'd prefer cavalry in shirt-sleeves and a bit more civil clothes than can double as cowboys/bandits/cavalry. Your Victorian. Maybe some raiders?

How about Nathan Bedford Forrest and his bodyguard? With a plethora of Confederate cavalry leaders perhaps a set with Forrest, Stuart, Wheeler, Imboden, Fitz Lee, Hampton, Morgan and Mosby for starters? ANV and Army of Tennessee cavalry would be suitable for separate sets with more variety of clothing and apparel in the Western armies.

Since we have a lot of fighting poses, I would prefere a group of riders not in combat. Like in the movie Gettysburg, when Buford arrives in near the town (Union Cavalry but still). And I think it would be good to have them in different and customized uniforms with hats and cappies.

I go with Jan (MABO). And if it has to be fighting poses, I prefer swords instead of pistols and guns.
And figures with no hats to. ;-)

Thank you for you input.

If we understands you correctly so is there a more of civil look you are missing then the regular uniform?

So something like this?

I think that's indeed the look we're asking for. These figures can be used as normal cowboys to.

Yes! That is very much what we are looking for! I don't care that much for sabres, but I have a good knife. :-D

I am also interested in figures with more uniformparts but in an not figting but relaxed riding poses. So the third one is my favorite as well. But I think if you create different ones than you will sell them.

AndI would like to see Union Cavalry in relaxed poses as well.

Ah, yes! A thought popped up! Will the riders and horses be separate or in one piece?

We think they will be separate so we can cover as many versions /poses as possible with different horses and same character.

Hello everyone!

We mentioned we are working on the Confederate Cavalry, and here is the work in progress.

You guys have any feedback or thoughts?

Just a thought: I am not sure what the rider is doing, but maybe he could sit on a standing horse? Like I posted already, I would prefer more waiting and not fighting figs.

Oh I see we angled the horse differently than thought, it is supposed to be a rider going down a slope. But yes, he would work on a standing one, about to get going.

The poses are very nice but I think the ‘western movie style’ carbine holster is wrong.

Troiani has several paintings showing the clip and belt system for both sides.

He is an acknowledged expert on these matters.

The Italieri style on their sets seems more correct.

Best wishes,

Chris

I think Chris is deep into the world of ACW. So I would consider his words based on Troiani. But I would like to add: I really like the pose. More of this please!
