I've finally cleaned off the mould lines and extra bits from the horses. Luckily as I stated before this plastic is pretty good for this operation.
So this
Became this
I have to report that after cleaning off 36 horses and 6 troopers the inevitable occured.
I soldiered on and completed the 9 troopers I'd planned for today without the need for a visit to A&E or the use of a splint or bandage.
Only 27 troopers to clean off now. I must say, they do look pretty good when the mould lines are removed.
The disappointment is that they should be wearing surtout for Eylau and not full dress uniform (even if full dress looks better).
.....during campaign they wore surtout. It was fastened with 6-10 buttons and was without white lapels and red cuffs. It was worn during
battles in 1806-1809.
This means that these figures are really made for campaigns from 1809 onwards.
...... in 1809 the surtout was replaced by so-called Second Full Dress (or "undress habit"). It was made of cheaper cloth than the First Full Dress. The Second Uniform had the plain round cuffs of the surtout and white lapels of the First Uniform. This outfit was very popular and was worn at Borodino, Leipzig, etc. The First Full Dress was for parade only and the Second Full Dress for campaign.
However
Onwards!
