The fun bit of preparing cavalry.

The impaling

Then add a little primer.

I've decided to go with them in full dress uniform. I'll just call it my Hollywood moment. :P

There is this too Peter.
This looks like we have a squadron of Young Guard Grenadiers (Brown horses) in the mix too but they weren't formed until 1812.

Heads up, gentlemen, these are bullets, not turds

Nice pictures!

Don't forget these have black horses. Only trumpeter has a white horse. ;-)

Or you can paint them as Gendarmes! :-D

Hello Mr Fred.

You might find this article interesting as it reveals the myths versus the reality of this dreadful battle fought in bonkers weather!

https://battlefieldanomalies.com/eylau/

You would have thought winter quarters was a better idea than chasing around a beleaguered countryside.

Best wishes,

Chris

Oh dear! This author is trying to say that not everything reported in battles is correct.
Gasp! now there's a shock. ;-)

Nice one Mr Chris :yeah:

Look at these faces and see if they mean anything like surrender!

Hello Mr Fred.

You are certainly a dedicated man with these chaps.

I was under the impression that the colour of the trim for enlisted men was aurora.

I believe this was akin to orange if that is of help.

Sorry to be a pain but your troops will look more splendid than ever when finished.

Best wishes,

Chris

I really like that set, big men on big horses and looking like they really mean it.

I'll definitely watch this one.

As for yellow have you tried Citadel Averland Sunset? All my vallejo yellows are too pure and bright. The Averland is a nice mellow yellow. All my Rousselot pictures show it close to being orange but in the actual photo it is plainly yellow, leading me to wonder if the dye faded in the field making the colors change with time. Did you have any issue with long cracks in the arms of the grenadiers? I got a box of red plastic with this issue while another box in gray has no imperfections. Under-pour in the molding process I suppose.

I really don't care for the Vallejo Yellow. Can't seem to get it to the correct consistency.

Good looking horse furniture Mr. Fred G.

No cracks but there were plenty mould lines to be removed on both horses and troopers.

Mr Chris, fear not, the golden yellow will be toned down with a sepia wash. The brown tinge should bring it closer to the orange spectrum. Hopefully it will sit imid the variations in all the pictures. I test painted one with orange and it just didn't look right with the red of the turnbacks and blanket. ;-)
