She wore a yellow ribbon ( Der Teufelshauptmann )

Posted by Egbert on 23 Jul 2019, 15:31

My dear hobby friends,
after a long absence in our Hobby and in this Forum,
I would like to introduce you to my new project.
It is a part of the film "She wore a yellow ribbon" (in German "Der Teufelshauptmann")
I love this movie, with John Wayne, since my childhood and the so heroically shown us cavalrymen.

Image

After some search on the internet, I quickly found something.
Because the building which served as a movie set,
is still to be seen in the US at Goulding's Lodge (Monument Valley).

Image

Image

I wanted to play as much as possible a scene from the beginning of the film ...
Captain Brittles is on his way to the morning inspection when the hijacked stagecoach arrives ...

Image

... this should look something like this.

I started with the construction of the buildings.

These were all made from 3mm hard foam and veneer remnants.
First, the main building - the home of Captain Nathan Brittles ...

Image

Image

Then the shed came to the left of the main building ...

Image

and finally the shelter or shed ...

Image

Image

Since I had no pictures of the roof of this building,
I decided for a mixture of wooden shingles,
old tarpaulins and weathered corrugated iron.

Image

Image

New territory was for me especially the representation of the grate.
For this I made myself rust and then applied with diluted white glue.

Next, I will deal with the necessary design details and equipment .

... a palisade to the Paddocks

Image

... various transport and storage boxes

Image

Image

... cereals and feed bags
Image

... a rocking chair
Image

...the wheelbarrow
Image

... an old entrance door
Image

... the bank in front of the accommodation
Image

... a kerosene lamp

The buildings are wonderful, so too are all of the scenic details. I'm very impressed by the packing crates.

Emperor, I think almost all the wooden items in the pictures are made of real wood, aren't they, Egbert? What can seem more real wood than wood itself? :xd:

Yes Santi you are absolutely right ... :-D
The palisades are real wood, selected small branches from the garden and the forest.

Those in ,THE POSTMAN, sure liked that movie too. As indeed do i.
