Prussian Musketeers 1806

Here we go again.

Two different coloured plastics so I wonder if there's another difference.

It doesn't take too long to notice that these chappies are somewhat lacking in handsome qualities.

I just knew I'd seen the officers in one of the sets :-D :yeah:

All the same now. Much better :-D :yeah:

You may notice that I've kept the cleaning off of mould lines to a minimum. I'm hoping to be able to disguise most of those when painting ;-)
The lines were a little deep to start messing with. They'd probably have finished looking worse than if just left.

The forum is far too quiet so I'll have to post my progress on the Musketeers

I've finished the throwing paint bit and now getting to the careful(ish) detail part.

You may notice in the third photo that the Revell zombie has been rebased and now has a pair of zombie lambs to keep him company. They're a pair of badly cast Soay lambs that really look much better as zombies than they should. In fact, they could well be mistaken for any other four-legged animal zombie. Please mote that these are NOT from the Pendraken ( I repeat NOT) sheep figures which were all perfectly cast

I had to do a bit of thinking with the abdominal area on this figure( My brain now hurts  )
Sorting out what is cross strap, lower cross strap, tunic, facing. belt , waistcoat (vest) and turnback isn't perfectly straightforward. I did finally manage it with my headset but it's much clearer with the larger magnification here.
The joy now of course is I have to attempt to get a reasonable finish to the paint job. 8)

Makes note - When in doubt blow it up ( do not advise BB to do this as he may take it a different way)

Blooming Magic seeing these old sets painted up. As the figures stand as a set I never liked it,
but it is upon the shelf in my toy soldier collection. It might seem odd that I like the backs rather than the front or side views on some of these figures. I wonder where this sculpture artist wondered off to? :sst: dare say , wondered off into obscurity. :cowboy: Don`t we all?

As an Army Veteran nearing 70 yrs of age, yes I have blown lots of things up in my time Fred.
One rather big hole on the Falkland Islands is still smoking. :-D BB

Happy birthday next Sunday BTW BB. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun.

I still find it some what of a quandary when I realise MrsG, nee MissM, has held that title for over 50 years

Progress is progressing :eh: At least the cross straps are on. ( I'm not that keen on the light straps, I much prefer black ones)

The muskets are still to finish off and there's lotsa of little bits here and there before I get to the washes.

There's some very good detail on these. If only their gait was better on the marching figures

Also as BB says the backs are very well sculpted, I think they're excellent.

Good work.

You have the knack of bringing out the best in these older somewhat imperfect, but interesting figures.

Best wishes,

Chris

You really go fast, Fred; which is absolutely great, don't take me wrong. Not only it's a work always good to see, but it is also of inspiration and stimulating. Hope to post some new pictures from my WIP soon.

It's an age thing.
I have a lot of figures to paint and my genes say I can't leave any undone.
(So does MrsG)

Another hour and they'll be done. :yeah: :-D

Woot!

Next up - Marchers.

All had a nasty lump of plastic on their left elbow. Thankfully the plastic type is good for removal of this and mould lines.

These all look like Randolph Scott

The back packs etc are 90% done, the muskets have wooden bits and the cross straps are there.

There's still a lot to do
