Battle of Solferino 1859

Posted by Wolfgang Meyer on 29 Mar 2018, 08:43

We have a new diorama project, the Battle of Solferino 1859.

The diorama should be several square meters in size. Several hundred figures are mastered by Massimo Costa.
So let's model the entire army of French and Austrian, with infantry, cavalry and artillery.
Massimo has already finished modeling over 80 figures. The figures are fantastically modeled.
On the diorama come a few thousand figures.

We will also offer all the figures for sale. Starting in the summer of 2018, the first tin figures in the 1/72 scale will be made by Schilling figures.

Here the first french chasseurs:

The church of Solferino will arise in 3D printing. This is already printed and is now being poured by Patrick in Resin and then built together.

Hello Wolfgang,

fantastic figures (masters) .. and I#m very intrested in buying some of them (even if they have the wrong gun) .. are they also useful in a Diorama of the franco-prussian war 1870/71 .. also the zouaves .. ;-)

Great work Massimo

Thank you @all

Here are some pictures of the unfinished church.
The bell tower with its wooden interior and the bells, finishing work on the roof, some statues, crosses and small details are still missing.
The final painting will only be done when all buildings are finished.

All of these new figures are spectacular, any idea when they will be available for purchase and through whom? I would be interested in multiples of all the Chasseur and Zouave sets to be painted as different units, these are beautiful figures................

Just looked at the imagines again; everything about these sculpts is top shelf from the uniform details to the poses to the packs, especially love the packs, they are spot on, really like the animated officer poses too, these are far superior to "wargaming" poses, they lend themselves to dioramas and displays vs just standard firing, marching, advancing poses. Again, thanks so much for sharing these images, I look forward to seeing the development of this line...............

I have started to paint them. ONE Question: i havent found any information about the water bottle. Sometimes it looks metallic, sometimes pale blue as if covered with cloth or painted. Can you help me please?

Wonderful realistic figures! It´s a pleasure to watch these and also the church building.
I am quite curious to follow the next steps for an impressive diorama.

I heard about this battle when I was 11yo and when we had class about creation of Red Cross. I was appointed president of Red Cross of the class.

Strange that the water cans Always cause trouble! I remember Paul had the same problem with some Austrian infantry some time ago, if I remember good.

Result on google about this infantry:
