Work in Progress

I've been working on the railroad....

As previously indicated, I became the proud owner of some railroad items for my Mahdist War games. Thanks to some good advice on Youtube, I've made progress on my Sudan railway.

The tracks were painted: Vallejo German black-brown on the sleepers & some rust-colour on the rails. I then cut out two lengths of MDF, bevelled the edges and sprayed them dark brown. When dry, the surface was glued, the rails pressed down & a suitable railway ballast scattered over them.

The train & engine have been painted, washed in sepia, drybrushed in a dust-colour & then (the engine), in bright metal to show paint flaking.

Now that I know the tracks look good, I can work on another half-dozen.

Sudan Rail, doesn't even need new decals.
Excellent.

Looks good all the livelong day.

The rolling stock has a nice sun bleached dusty look about it.

Pte. Atkins wants to know "Where's the dining car"?

Ha! Tell Private Atkins he'll be lucky if he isn't dining on a Mahdist spear in the belly!

I *do* need a flatcar to put a Gardiner or some such on, though.
