Work in Progress

Churchill A.V.R.E.

Image
Planning on doing a scene similar to the box art. I'll work on the tank first. I'm saving the figures, the best part, for last.
Image
I'm leaving parts of the bridge section undone to make painting easier.
Image
The many small road wheels were tedious to paint. I hope the stiff, old tracks will work when applied.
Image
Detail work starts on the hull and turret. Soft, molded on detail was removed. I added grab handles(made out of brass wire) and tank tools(made out of styrene) to the hull. On the turret, I added missing armor detail to the Petard mortar, and an armor guard for the Besa machine gun.

Look promising. Adding grab handles, tools such as open hatches make a tank model always more interesting.
:yeah:
It seems it will be a big model with these long part the bridge. Do the bridge get an end to touch at your base? Or is it planned like the Matchbox base?
A stairway to heaven.

Wiking, Whether the scissor bridge reaches a terminus , it's still uncertain. I do wish to replicate the Matchbox art work, but I do want to add additional elements. Maybe some German Werewolf commandos laying in wait at the destroyed bridge's footings. Hhhm?
Bill
PS: Still looking for a suitable British AFV crew. I've been looking at Milicast and SHQ figures. Do you recommend any set?

So I have to wait and see.

German Wehrwolf commandos. Totally losers. They are fake.

Oooh, Yes!
British, US, French, Japanese tank crews are limited and more hard to find in comparison to her German counterparts.

Two additional options:

I rather go for ab figures, as they match the Churchill A.V.R.E perfectly, since they are both in 1/76.

I sharpened up the details on the outboard sponson sides. I removed the molded on tow cables. I made a replacement out of nylon(stiffened up with instant glue). Bolt heads and other items were added.
Image
Sponson sides are on, and I applied putty to the leftover gap. On the turret, I detailed the 2 hatches. I cut them in half, and then added pads and levers.
Image
Both sponson sides required putty to flush out remaining gaps.
Image
Scratchbuilt tank tools are added to the rear deck. They were made out of styrene. Tool brackets are made out of electrical tape. I still need to apply the tank color to finish application.
Thanks for viewing. Any questions concerning the build are welcomed.
Bill
I'm waiting on a tank crew. I ordered them from Millicast(British AFV crewmen).

@Kekso..........Love the emoji line up. Hahahahahaha.
One of my pet peeves is molded on tank tools on a kit. They just look too flat and unrealistic. So I shave them off and make new ones. Aaah, I feel better.

Got some more work done on the Churchill A.V.R.E. Bridge layer.
Image
Painting and assembling the bridge sections. Get thorough coverage on the interior, cause it will be difficult to reach afterwards.
Image
Cable/Winch carriage and muffler added to engine deck. Also finished painting the tank base coat.
Image
Bridge sections are combined. Deployment gantry also added.
Image
The nearly 40 year old decals still worked. Amazing! Pffew! Applied gloss coat to decal area. Used
Micro-Set and Micro-Sol solutions on the decals.
Image
One additional step I had to do was cut close to the decal image due to excessive carrier film.
Thanks for watching. Any questions, please feel free to ask.
