Strelets Lawrence of Arabia

Posted by Konrad on 21 Mar 2017, 21:14

Start the work on the new set from STRELETS "Lawrence of Arabia".
Great figs but I am disappointed a little by the horses.
I think I will take other horses.

2008 i painted this sets with the same horses like in the new set.
I believe it is time STRELETS should think about a few new horses for their actual sets.
But this is only my opinion.

As I said, I am not satisfied with the horses of STRELETS.
That is why I chose a dromedary from ITALERI.
A little bit converted...
Hope you like it.

Looks good to me Konrad, The dromedary is fine as well. Did you soften the pictures? Or is there a fingerprint on the lences? :camera: 8)

Even now a days they still are `The little ships of the desert', that`s for sure. A wise choice in using them ,and the painting is extremely good. Conversions are often the rich prize to aim for in this part of the hobby.Well done. :-D BB

Wonderful work, as usual...

The change of horses suit them well. And the rider with dromedary turns into a masterpiece!

Dear Konrad, for my taste, some of your best works...

Great idea and execution... but isn't the dromedary a bit small?
Cheers Peter

Apart from they are the same ones from the Arab Cavalry, Turkish Seljukes Cavalry, Turcopoles and Mamelukes *sets and they look a bit "not arabian" nag like..(they are too thick necked) ... the Chamfrons :eh:
From PSR
One real surprise was the chamfron, a metal horse head armour, worn by the second horse. While archaic items would not have been particularly unusual, we could find no corroboration for metal armour like this in use by 1916. Equally we could not identify or confirm the strange bands round the upper neck of the first horse in the fifth row

* and probably others I have forgotten

Beautiful work, Konrad. The figure seems to go so well with the camel so that was a good call.

Yes, a shame that Strelets didn't produce some new horses for the set - some elegant and sleek grey Arabian horses are required.
