He'll like these in their bright pink uniforms then.

All ready to apply the regimental facings. I've decided to have the two regiments with this set. Prinz Anton and Prinz Maximillian.

Brushes and cocktail sticks are on standby :-D

The regimental colours have been applied. There are no buttons as yet so the ID is incomplete :P .

They're far too clean and white. This is a modern blue white and just wrong so the next step is a sepia wash to kill the blue white and dirty them up a bit.

TEST: See if you can spot the ones that have not had a wash.

Image

Wooooo! isn't that difficult :P :P :P :P :P

Now all I have to do is clean up a few areas and add buttons.

I've cleaned them up and added buttons. I was all ready to just paint up the bases and get them based but (there's always a but) while sewing on the buttons I noticed I hadn't added the straps on the backpacks.

A little more to do before the most difficult part of all.

I've sorted out the missed bits and waiting for the paint to dry on the mdf bases. With any luck these will be completed tonight. :-D

During the French Line Lancer interlude I've taken advantage of the time and started this merry band ( see what I did there?)

Progress on the massed Fifes and Drums and the NCOs. They're a little more colourful, I'll finish up with members from 8 Regiments.

Another lot of Saxons are on the table. This will be the last of them as the three figures at the right of the second photo are officers and NCOs and I think the rest are surplus. There is one that looks remarkably like Lee Marvin though  :eh: 8)

Ah! The best laid plans .....

This post in the Gallery........

Kekso wrote:Great paint work. You should have one topic in Gallery dedicated to your Saxon army.

..........gave me the idea of setting up the figures and taking photos of them in formation. I was looking at them in the cabinet and something was missing, flags. Two boxes of 96 figures each and not a single flag bearer :eh: The simplest remedy is to exchange the halberds of the NCOs for flag standards. That's far too easy! I have 21 officers and NCOs left over so I've been converting eight of those. I have the regimental flags so I'll print off the eight I have figures for and that will add a little more life into the Army. It also adds a little time to completion too, hey ho!

Here are the 8 characters who have volunteered to be holding the 8 regimental standards I require.
A mix of NCOs and Officers because they were left spare 8)

Their uniforms are very clean and white at present but not for long.

The plastic on this set is awful for doing anything different with. It is extremely difficult to get a decent finish if any plastic is carved away. The officers are not too bad in this instance but the NCOs have been a little problematic. Hopefully the flags will detract from imperfections.
