WIP Bennos Figures Forum Great Miniature Figures Parade

Posted by Beano Boy on 24 Mar 2017, 19:13

Many thanks Guys,I just got up from a very sound sleep.Well i worked throughout the night Typing and painting figures while i could fresh remember the best process way to do them, before forgetting.

I have had problems sticking the drums onto the Drummers, because the pegs on the drums are way to small indeed for the very large guide holes in the figures. The drums are a nightmare to paint and i wished they had been modeled upon the darn figures. I feel confident that the large Base-Drum could be hot pinned carefully into both the drum and then the figure. The others are way to small for that process.

Gunnar. i sincerely hope the figures are OK,in those boxes, As i do not see why i should be the only one to suffer doing AIRFIX figures of Yesteryear. :-D BB

Bigger place ? No Remco, not at all. Just fix them to the walls with masonry nails good and tight.

A job banged in with a Beano Boy wallop by the elusive Benno, with heavy iron hammer in hand. With luck we might get to see him in a few photo`s of the event.
No not during the show, but the collapse of the wall giving everyone a good dusting!

:coffee: Next year will be a much bigger display after the wall gets fixed. BB

Many thanks Guys those flags were quite a worry for my head to pounder upon.
The next are the Drummers. Will those drums keep rolling off the figures?
How that might well turn out is open for friendly debate,in that pleasant song we all hum along too.
It is simply called English in its speaking, and I am so glad Benno saw fit to find a place for it here. BB

Oops! Opened the box and there were 24 (!!!) marching figures partially painted! So I started to finish them! :-D The Swedes will need shoes and a washing and then they are done! And they were not fun to paint (well, Swedes are not famous for being fun anyway) so I thought I could have a little fun too! :-D They not finished drummers were in facing colours so maybe I will fix that on the old ones. And the mantra now is: It IS fun to paint Airfix! It IS fun to paint Airfix! It IS fun to paint Airfix! It IS fun to paint Airfix! So when these are finished there will be 36 marching grenadiers + drummers + one mounted officer (I know he shouldn't be there, but his horse IS marching).

And the strange-looking redcoats are Italeri's Austrian Nappie greandiers painted as British grenadiers.

From the land of the mid-day sun we have more outstanding behaviour from Gunnar.
A secret stash of boxed up figures finally revealed.
Well done my friend.
There is great fun to be had in this volunteering madness! :-D
This over bold over the top venture nearing its end is supporting FIGS,
but also more to the point Benno`s Figure Forum, and that is the heart of the matter.
So the Figure Parade, will stack up well upon this Table of Delightful Dreamers.

:sst: " there`s still enough time left to join in if you would like to?"

MY WEEKEND WORK

Image

The last of the Drums have been stuck on using the varnish seen above,it has been a long haul getting all the drums fixed to each drummer, and it was a pain to attach them all. Dripping varnish by way of a tiny brush load all around the edges where the drum meets the figure I found the only way to accomplish the job. Working in dribs and dabs took the whole weekend, and part of today to fix them.
In between those assembly sessions ,I painted up my own marching AIRFIX Figures.

Image

A dozen of the tiny Drummers were all I could manage to field,
but the big base drummers will help equal the FIGZ, drum beat out. :-D BB

three to get ready now, go cat, go
But don't you step on my grey swede shoes!

Everything is done except the brits' rifles! And a flesh-wash on the flesh and a mud-wash on the rest.

I love your bottle tops Gunnar. They have given me an idea for a fantasy story. The blue suede shoes turned to grey, yes I like your rendition of the Olde Song. The real song reminds me of the Teddy Boys of the 1950`s.Seeing your troops on mass,i believe you have done well. With me finished painting I will sip that hot sweet cup of tea you sent to me now,and relax into calm, and try not to see red, white and blue when I shut my eyes. R, the best cup`pa tea I have ever had,___________thank you. BB

The great things about AIRFIX toy figures is they come in huge numbers, are well armed and do not tolerate any who wear pajamas during the day. :-D BB
