The nearest AWI battles were thousands of miles away from my region, which was not a part of the United States until many decades later. But Indian wars were right near by. I could drive down to see Fort Simcoe in about 30 minutes. Google it if you have an interest, I have already launched my initial research to find the differences in uniforms compared to ACW guys from a few years later.
