I will model more cattle in the foreseeable future. Yes, i have planned so. Various so-called primitive breeds are to be created, relatively few modified breeds with great similarity to their ancestors. The Spanish fighting bull belongs to it, but as first i wanted to sculpt some Podolian Cattle like the Hungarian Grey or the Maremmana. So if you have some patience..??? :eh:

My new "meeting point" for prepared but not needed modeling clay (the brown bear mother is now ready preformed, she only needs her fur and the claws  ) at the end shall to become a strong African elephant. Gradually it can already be seen that it probably will succeed. He was originally to be the pilot project for an africa series. But he was replaced and one of his children now takes over his role. I decided in the short term to prefer its sculpting, because i wanted to try out whether i successful to replicate the physical proportions, the dynamics and especially the skin of an elephant at our scale.

Great looking elephant and the hide is excellent.

I was a bit dubious about the position of the eye but I looked at some pictures of baby elephants online and discovered that it's exactly right.

Never thought meeting points could look like this Stenfalk!
I am fascinated by sculptors making 'secondary' objects just by using their leftovers before hardening. :yeah:

Now elephant skin is a completely new thing to me. I watched such skin many times but never thought about how to sculpt it. My compliments to the cute little creature. You did a great job in making both the very raw body skin and the smooth skin of the ear.

I managed to put a female to my stately aurochs bull. The girl has a shoulder height of about 150 cm and is thus considerably smaller and more elegant than her "master in the forest". This pronounced dimorphism, however, was a characteristic of the race, as evidenced by skeletal excavations.

The original distribution area of the Aurochs contained large parts of the temperate and subtropical Eurasia, the Aurochs also occurred in parts of India and North Africa, where however each other subspecies lived.

The Aurochs has been mystified as the most important hunting prey of man ever since. The oldest cultural references in Europe can be found in the cave paintings in Lascaux or Chauvet, where the Auerochs is depicted alongside other ice age wild animals. The Aurochs can also be found on North African wall paintings and stone engravings.

Even in ancient times the Aurochs enjoyed a high place. Thus Ur-horns often were used by the Romans as hunting horns. Aurochs were also among the wild animals which were caught for fighting in the colossi. Caesar reports in "De Bello Gallico" the Germans made a great effort to catch and kill them in pits. Young men then presented the horns to the people which gave them great honor.

With increasing rarity of the Auerochsen hunting for the wild cattle became a privilege of the nobility and signs of high status. The result is known: in 1627 the last animal of this species died.

It was really at the time that someone start building nice animals.
And there are so much options. Elephants, oxes, hores, donkey in towing pose for instance.

You always impress me with your ability to form these animals so live like.
After your small superb elephant now this beautiful made aurochs.
And additionally a very interesting historical report.
:yeah:

The last auerochs died in 1627.
Fake News.
