and you still have no idea how far I will go !!! 
This time I've made some progress with the Zvezda's plastic figures.
-- The cuffs of the jacket are painted red (Vallejo 70909 vermillion) with a blue stripe on it (Vallejo 70809 royal blue) and buttons (Vallejo 70801 Laiton). Also a white line come around the red.
--spurs to the boots of the 4 riding officers : Vallejo 70864 Natural steel, with their webbing (Vallejo 70940 Saddle brown).
--On the back of the blue coat of each figure I've drew with a rotring pencil the letter "N" with a dot above (on the white flaps of the coat)
-- For some unknown reason all the 4 plastic flag pole broke at the same height (above the shako) when manipulating figures with my fingers so I replaced them with a metal pole, it could come from a problem of the mould who damage the pole, because the bayonnet are much more thinner but none of them broke, in fact you can bend them to 45 degree and shape them again to the right place 10 time, it doesn't break at all.
--Drummers and fifre :
The chevrons of the drummers and fifres are painted white first, then yellow (Vallejo 70953), and after that I've added some red dots (Vallejo 70909 vermillion) with the tip of a brush.
The metal color of the drum is the mitsubishi pen UM 153 bronze (Pigment ink),a blue stripe above and below the drum is vallejo 70809 royal blue (underlined with black) the rope is Vallejo 70876 brown sand, and the link of the ropes is white. Everything is underlined with black, by a thin brush.
The drum membrane is an addition of a white base, then apply a very diluted wash (95% of water with 5% of paint) Vallejo 70876 brown sand and two more wash made with black.
Drum sticks are Vallejo 70984 flat brown with a laiton part (Vallejo 70801)
With all the drummers I've already painted for the french infantry, the tambour majors will be welcome, music was very important during battle, among noise and smoke it was the only way to transmit orders or support the moral of troops.

Still making some progress with the Zvezda plastic figures, the black cartridge pouch on the back has a "N" written, I noticed that it's sometime difficult to see gold letters on black color so I started to make a white letter and then covered with gold (Vallejo 70801 Laiton). This method solved the problem because if you paint directly a Gold "N", the color is shining and it's hard to understand which letter it is, you have to turn the figure to different angles.
The backpack is painted Vallejo 70940 Saddle brown with stains of Vallejo 70876 brown sand, the rolled coat above is Vallejo 70989 sky grey (Prince august 989 gris ciel). All this received a black wash, the white webbing of the backpack is underlined with black, this time I've made it with a thin brush instead of a pencil, the effect is slightly different and more dark, it's an interesting variation but from now on I will make it with pencil again because it was so much time consuming with the brush !
some figures have the infantry saber on their side, the sheath of sabers is black with two gold end pieces (and red ponpon for officers).
THE FACE (same as I did for the previously done french infantry)
- base : Vallejo 70860 medium fleshtone
- Wash : Vallejo 70875 beige brown (mixed with 90% of water)
- Drybrush : Vallejo 70955 flat flesh (with a flat brush)
a touch of white Vallejo for the eyes, the black dot and the mouth is made by a Rotring pencil (0.35) It's so easy and fast like this.
HAIRS come in 4 colors :
- Vallejo black 70950
- Vallejo Burnt Umber 70941 (the most common color)
- Vallejo Black brown 70822
- Vallejo Beige 70917 (for blond people)
I've added a black wash only on the Beige, and a drybrush only for the others colors, completed with a touch of mat varnish on the pencil work, it's not really necessary, but like this the result won't move for sure.
THE RIFLE
the rifle is very very thin (specific to "art of tactic" collection designed by computer) compared to "Hat" figures or Zvedza conventional range, a deep line is missing between the metal barrel and the wood below to serve as a rail for the brush ! it mean less details to paint, honestly I prefer slightly oversized details on rifle (if in this one it is downsized or the correct size, nearly invisible details) and a better silex platinum, it's also more easy to paint big details. But anyway, it's still good enough and I appreciate the Zvezda hard plastic, none of them bend or broke and all the so thin bayonet are still there too ! straight forward !

Hello Mr ADM.
Nice painting with great detail.
I personally think the eyes thing detracts from your good work.
Mr Crynns has a technique ( presumably a Dutch state secret ) that’s works well with his ancients, but my eyesight even with the visor is not up to it.
An umber wash applied judiciously seems to do the trick.

I appreciate your opinion C M Dodson, don't forget that my photos enlarge a lot those 1/72 figures and if you had them in your hands you could barely notice the eyes. I'Ve started this project with such eyes and will finish it with them.
when I was young I wasn't painting the eyes, I caught the virus a few years ago 
For me the Rolls Royce of Brush is Kolinsky, and this size is 5/0 it work for the finest details you can find on 1/72 figures. When your work is finished don't forget to soak the brush with wet soap and reshape it with your fingers, like this you will have a perfect brush everyday.
This time I've nearly finished the Zvezda's figures by painting the Shako in black with gold Insign (Vallejo Laiton 70801) and the blue/red/white french cocard with ink pens, and covered by vallejo mat varnish to fix the result. The ponpon is red (Vallejo 70909). There's only the base left to paint.
Paper flags (from Rofur flags, this brand no longer exist but there's plenty of others) are soaked with PVA glue (for wood) and shaped with fingers.
I've also started to paint details on metal figures (10 tambour majors from Franznap miniatures, marvelous figures), the decoration (white or gold) on the trousers was not easy to paint, it's the first time in my life I painted with a magnifying glass because it was just too thin, but I have to say that prominent details are of good help to ease the painting, and I think a beginner can do the job too with the good tools and the appropriate method ! I will give the numbers of colors used for each of them when finished.

Those figures are now finished, it was a real pleasure to paint the metal figures (Franznap), the finest details are very prominent and don't disappear under the first layer, so it ease the painting a lot ! if only all the plastic figures could be like this !!!

Very impressive volume of figures and bright colors. I like the dark outlines that emphasize the details of the uniforms to the viewer. Good pictures, too. Not my style of painting but I love to see your work posted here at Bennos.
