The Ming dynasty opened trade with the Mongol tribes
Tribute trade and designated towns for trade: grain, iron and other important materials were exported directly for horses.

Horses were the cars, trucks, airplanes, and tanks of that era. No wonder they traded such valuable materials to obtain them.

I've just had a look at your Ming army, and.... Waow, they are among of the best sculpted and painted minis I have ever seen at this scale
I particularly love the shields, I guess they're handpainted ?
The work of a grand master.

Hi,PhilC:
8) there was 'outline' on the photo-etched sheet ( shields) so I could copy design

A masterpiece nevertheless. Your minis look like they're 1/32, painted with competition level!!
But I think I found your secret for being so skillful: you're painting with an armour on !! I just discovered your avatar, excellent

lirui--

You channel the era to a stunning degree with your outstanding figures. The Redbox guys aren't nearly as good as the original creations, but you have done very well with those, too. When you paint while wearing your own armor, can you hear the thundering hooves as the men raced across the plains so many centuries ago?

The rider in blue in the act of firing would look better if you added a bowstring...
