Roman Trireme scratchbuilt (UPDATE 07.10.13)

I know it's cliche, but great work!
I love a good conversion, though these are more like totally new sculpts correct? Plus they are well painted.

More or less... I´ve used the Zvezda spartans, scratched off the bronze armor and sculpted other ones. The heads are from Zvezda´s Macedonian phalanx with self-made crests.

More conversions:

Wounded African infantryman desperately blocking a sword strike of a Roman Hastatus (still to come...)
Image

Roman archer. I understand if some people have problems with such an archer in this period, but I think the Romans were clever enough to take some archers on their ships, so I´ve decided to give him the equipment of melee-infantry...

Carthaginian oarsman (NO conversion)

Roman principes hit by an arrow while entereing the Carthaginian ship

This project is getting better and better, can’t wait to see the final result!
By the way, this was in the news today – could be interesting for all of us who are interested in ancient naval warfare:

The publication they are referring to can be downloaded from the journal site here, together with some other interesting papers on a Roman shipwreck and another ram. But be quick – such free access is usually only for a limited time!

Still impressing! It will be a fantastic result, when finished.

I´ve made some progress but the light wasn´t enough to shoot some good photos. So here´s the only (more or less) good photo. Two more figures tomorrow...

Zvezda, Signifer (slightly converted with lion-head instead of a bear and tail)

With the rest of the daylight I´ve made these fotos:

Muscle cuirass from Zvezda´s republican Romans, Shield and sword from their Spartans, head from Zvezda´s Greek infantry archer, the rest is selfmade
Image

Head from Orion Oarsmen (helmet is selfmade), the rest is a conversion of Zvezda´s republican Roman centurio.

Tell me what you think...

Been very busy on various projects the last months, so it´s been a while since my last update. Here is my newest figure for the dio: A Carthaginian General urging his troops to fight (or maybe to retreat...). The figure is a conversion of Zvezda´s republican Roman infantry (legs and muscle cuirass) and their Macedonian phalanx (helmet). Hope you´ll like it!
