The battle of Gata Forest 1365

Posted by Susofrick on 24 Mar 2010, 14:32

Just when I've almost finished painting Farthegn the Young Bure, Peasant leader from the North of Sweden I discover that he was about 55 years old at the time of this battle. He did save King Håkan of Norway, but that was when the king was a young prince, 25 years before this battle. :( And I tried to paint him as a young man. Pic will follow as soon as I can take them. Pics follow now! And there's much more to do on him. The shield is painted like the flag of The Republic of Jämtland (which only is a fictious/comedy name on the county of Jämtland), but the green must be lighter!

A project ain't dead until it's finished! But we were probably some people that thought this project deceased. But no! It still seem to have some life in it. Don't really remember all my plans for this, but now I'm planning a little charge. Many figures already painted, but there are some more needed.

And some bases (only two for this project, the round ones are for something else.):

Not dead, just sleeping for a while. Nice to see you've put the project "front and center" again.

Well Gunnar l for one am glad that you have taken a long, long long time doing this, because if you had not then l would have missed your Topic totally. So thank you for not being a slap dash painter moving at light speed. (l must admit that l have put many painting jobs on hold too.) I have enjoyed reading and seeing your knightly stuff, and have enjoyed the friendly banter too.lt is this that l feel is special about all the guys on the Forum who have watched and watched ......................and now after years still do, but with a keen interest too,as indeed do l from now on.So l look forward with all the others who hopefully hope to live to see its completion.Best dip and splash brush forward now Gunnar, and keep us all posted upon the progress of your Epic Diorama. Thank you especially for supporting me on many of my own Topics! Best Regards BB

Well, you are right Peter. I was lazy and suddenly realized the deadline is coming closer. So I panicked a little. But that was good since that made me start working again.

Hmm, seems to take some time this project. Some new pics at least. Taken with the cellphone, so not very good. Bases and feet are not painted because I'm planning to remove the bases on the figures. The big brown bases are made of plaster.

First the defending side, Swedes and Norwegians:

And the attackers, Swedes and Germans. Some casualties too.

Now I just have to finish the bases for the dio. Deadline is sometime February 2365, so I hope I can finish in time.
