Just scored a Zvezda French staff

Posted by Bessiere on 03 Apr 2020, 22:36

I haven't found any of these for sale in over a year and came across one on Ebay and I won the auction! Don't ask what I paid for it but It's worth it to me, that was the last Napoleonic set in 1/72 that I didn't have. Anyways I'm plum tickled about it but It will be some months before I can get around to painting it. Now I'm anxious to see what others have done with this set. Come to think of it I hope I wasn't bidding against a fellow Benno's member, I would feel badly about that.

Good thing that! The trick is to have a more expensive hobby you leave behind for miniature modelling then you're spending less than before.

Now with this situation I feel like Sylvester the Cat in cartoon where he had so many tunas in cann, but had no cann opener...It was never the time when you could paint all day long, and I never had so many figures at once, and I have not bought the paints and brushes...

I am stuck at home most of the day, most days, but there is no time to paint and model. Too much to do.

It is only an announced re-release at this point. They do not always come true.

A set in hand is worth a dozen promised for re-release. Who knows, they might no be able to ship them from Russia any more the way things are going. I pray sanity is restored soon. That's as political as I'm going to get here.

If you spend a week painting a box then it's worth a good bit more than the retail price. Painting miniatures for fun actually costs a good deal less than most hobbies I've had in the past.

Surely it's a right of passage to pay over the odds for a set to find out it's shortly due for re-release...

Agreed! I remember paying an eye watering amount on one box of HaT Austrian Grenadiers just to find out the next day that they were being re-released..

Could have been worse! Every time the Zvezda Russian Hussars go on ebay they sell for £50+. Crazy. As long as you're happy you've got your needed set then all is good though. I'll look forward to seeing some pictures once they're done.
