Austin K2 Ambulance

I'm making a diorama that includes Airfix Austin K2 Ambulance:

I will make a separate topic about the diorama itself in the Works in progress forum. In this forum I want to discuss the Austin K2 Ambulance separately, it's painting, and especially it's internal painting.
After checking out different finished models at several other forums and displays I'm a bit confused about what it looked like on the inside?
Some have painted it in a lighter green on the inside so I'm interested to know what different painting schemes were used on this model?
The diorama is mean to be somewhere in France during 1944.
It's supposed to be an Royal army ambulance instead of an RAF one.

I run into similar problems at that time. And finally do that solution.

Yes that is one way to do it. I will have to have both doors wide open because it will be an important part of the diorama.

Honestly, I don't know but my first thought was that the interior would probably be the same as the exterior because the paint would be a standard issue joblot.Then it occured to me that the interior might be painted lighter to increase reflected light so the medical staff could see what they were doing.

I looked at the ambulance in the film "Ice Cold IN Alex". The interior is the same colour as the exterior; but of course being set in the desert, it's painted a light sand colour rather than khaki green so it's quite light inside anyway.

I also looked at a lot of photos online. the inside of the driving cabin always seems to be the same colour as the outside but none of the photos showed into the back of an ambulance except this one:



It seems to be white or cream inside but I can't see if the outside is different.

I think you could do it either way.

Graeme, that is a very lovely picture of your mother. Wonderfull looking lady! And I have the deepest respect for all who drove with those cars, marked as targets for some people!

I chose to paint like this. The figure sitting on the seat was to high for the roof to attach properly, so he had to be moved to the floor.

Well done - I like it a lot. Loved the model since I saw the movie "Ice Cold in Alexandria" as a child. One of the most beautiful models from Airfix - also because it is the only one in this scale (unfortunately 1:76). I have already built some of them.
