Star Wars 1/72 figures - are there any in the market?

Posted by Duke atreides on 10 Nov 2012, 15:25

While I was looking at a Lego catalog I was wondering... aren't there any 1/72 figures for Star Wars? That would be a gold mine!

Yes, they were made for Micromachines, something I never understood, as Micromachines are totally uncompatible with 1/72 figures ;-) .

Hello There,
I registered just to respond to your question.
There are only simplified figurines made by Galoob, Micro Machines in about 1/76 scale (they fit well Matchbox and most Airfix figurines - they are made in the same scale). Pre-painted figurines are made of vinyl and are more toys than models, but I really like them. It's vinyl, so they are very easy to convert, glue and paint.
Micro Machines made more figurines than usually can be seen on collettor's sites, so it's hard to find out what you can find, but most of the figurines can be find cheap on eBay. I have found only one complete list of these. Here you are:

https://www.facebook.com/StarWarsMicroM ... tos_stream

Galoob made also Micro Machines Action Fleet - this is something different. Figurines are much bigger, around 26-28mm, but some simplified models can be used as vehicles for Micro Machine figurines.
Galoob was solt to Hasbro and later Hasbro made some figurines called "Micro", these were bigger a bit, probably closer to 1/72, but there was only few pilots, heroes, badly made.
"Risk Star Wars - Clone Wars" was made with figurines simplified of Clone Troopers and Heavy Battledroids, they can be used with Galoob. There was also "Risk - Star Wars", unfortunatelly figurines are much smaller, around 14mm high.
There is no models in real 1/72, except for Fine Molds 1/72 Millennium Falcon model (maybe other Fine Molds kits have figurines too) which comes with 2 beautiful Stormtroopers, Han Solo and Chewbacca. Unfortunately Model is exceptionally expensive, so I hope to meet someone who have that model and would like to sell figurines or make some copies or allow me to make some...
Revell also made few models in 1/72 (as they say, I don't have them, yet). "Imperial Shuttle" comes with 2 simplified sitting figurines (Imperial Officer and Stormtrooper) and Millenium Falcon with Solo and Chewbacca, but even smaller than Galoob. Maybe some other Revell models have pilots, but there is no scale, so I need to see these.

I'm still looking for Galoob and Star Wars figurines similar to 1/72 scale, so if anyone is collecting these maybe he could add something to my list or have something to exchange?

With Regards,
Bartosz

P.S; I'd like to say hello to everyone, so; Hello There!

There's metal figures (25mm) from West end games, made in the 1990, you can still find them on ebay, really good ones, top quality, with nice details (for the first trilogy only) :

But expensive today, there's some others in plastic already painted from Wizards Coast (released few years ago), size close to 25mm, covering both trilogy, details are good althought you could want to improve the painting, you will find them on ebay too like these sets, this collection offer the biggest choice :

Make search by brand : "West end Games" and "Wizards Coast"

I was somewhat disappointed by the second trilogy, more like a cartoon than a movie, I hope Disney will do better for the next star wars movie, having done something great with Pirate of the caribbean.

I think the MIcroMachines figures are back, or if not these ones then new ones. My local Walmart has a few figures that look like they may be 1/72 or 1/76.

I am sorely tempted by the General Grievous figure - but they're expensive for what you get; 3 or 4 figures (1/72ish) and a couple of space ships (random small scale) for about $13.

From the models, that i have:

a. Fine Molds TIE Fighter and TIE Interceptor 1:72 sets - both have sitting figure of Imperial pilot.

b. Fine Molds Vader's Fighter (TIE Advanced) 1:72 set have Darth Vader (sitting and standing) figures.

It looks like sets of Slave 1 (two versions - from original and prequel trilogy) have figures of Boba and Jango Fett, but this needs confirmation.

Caesar Miniatures produced sets of Clone and Stormtroopers, but I only saw them on their webshop.

I saw these new 2015 Micro Machines at the stores. Unfortunately, the figures are teeny tiny. They are smaller than the originals. The originals were 1/76 scale. These new ones are barely 1/87. They aren't compatible, which is a shame. Our only hope is the lines expands to the point that you get everything you need and don't have to worry about mixing them in with the old figures. But knowing Hasbro's track record, something tells me they won't.
