Head swaps

Posted by C M Dodson on 17 Mar 2026, 16:20

I could not find Ochin’s post suggesting using clipped staples so hence this post.

I have found that by holding a needle in a pair of pillars and then heating the tip over a tea light candle the speed of hole making is dramatically increased and the risk of spearing yourself dramatically decreased!

The clipped staple idea is genius.

I wished I had known that before gluing the hussar heads on.

Thank you again.

:coffee: A good topic Chris' and this is no complant. :sst: so lets have some fun? asked the little button.
:coffee: AH! The art and craft movement, to aid anyone hoping to hop about the place while trying hard to cool down ones own burnt finger is a must for others to see. and it certainly is a Great post!
:eh: Eh! :cowboy: It sure will make you great with a branding iron come the Roundup! The cowboy said who always sleep in his boots. It is a fear factor thing to avoid e'm getting nicked! :eh: Eh! Your crazy! WingNut ,said in reply.
:coffee: Yes the wonder of trying hard to stop hot pinning my own finger was an ongoing event for many years! Usually during the night of every day while my dearest Mrs B, was a bed in dreamland. Well that is hopefully understandable because during any day of the week as they arrived, the kitchen was her domain and not mine. Simple put i used a ring of fired up gas to heat dress makers pins white hot, then soon after using a pair of Plyers to push them in. i might as well add here with my eyesight for what it is.i was the most perfect Mr BB Bumble, at hot pinning the same finger over many years of painful screaming delight! Yes i also became a great hot wired dancer over many a year, and therefore i claim the honer to be a British Veteran of the Napoleonic Wars because i hot wired both ends of hundreds of those little fellows who never really deserved it.BB
