1/72 Bare Trees

Posted by John Simmons on 17 Jun 2025, 19:32

I've been struggling to create enough bare trees to cover my table for our upcoming Guilford Courthouse game (which I've described in the Work in Progress section of this forum). Here's a quick trick that I just discovered. If you have any access to Azalea bushes, have a look for the dead ends of their branches (the parts I was clipping off in my yard). You'll find that the tips make excellent bare trees for our scale, given the many, tiny branchings of the plant. I made a couple dozen of these quite quickly. Here's a photo of a few of them.

I've tried a lot of other "real plants" as sources for scale trees, but I think these are the best that I've stumbled upon.

Hi,

Quite effective but the bare seafoam have to be the best in my opinion.

The problem is that they are fragile.

Still, I have stuck the debris to branches to get more trees !

Best wishes,

Chris

Looking great! I have used blueberry, but I am not satisfied with it. But it is cheap and just about everywhere here. :-D
