Reducing 1/35 figures to 1/72? can somebody help me?

Posted by Xantippos on 04 Jul 2020, 15:52

I have been thinking of how wonderful it would be to be able to reduce 1/35 figures to 1/72, to sculpt in 1/35 is much easier, and I could sculpt soldiers much quicker and better. I remember in this forum having read that a few users knew the technique, I have explored it and I think it is too complicated for me (I even bought gasoline and tried, but ended up in a gooey mess).

Would somebody be disposed to reduce figurines I make from 1/35 to 1/72? he could keep the masters I send to him, and even the moulds, I would only need a good quality reduction.

Regards.

There is a thread on here somewhere explaining how to do it, it was a couple of years ago, but it appeared to work.

It was from the thread; 3D Printing and 'down-scaling'

On the thread hydrospan is mentioned by Kostis.
The molded object shrinks...This stuff

Or, shrink the mold instead of the object

I have to admit that the method with the Zippo lighter fluid is rather complicated as it takes 3 or 4 repetitions to reduce a figurine from 1/35 to 1/72.
But with hydrospan you rather need only one effort. Of course the difference is that you pour hydrospan in a normal mould, and then after you have extract it, hydrospan itself will shrink. ;-)
Keep in mind that you have to store hydrospan in the refridzerator. :-D
