Making Napoleonic casualties?

Posted by stewaoi on 27 Mar 2017, 23:00

I'm progressing well through my Nappy diorama. . but i'm completely stumped as to how to create casualty figures for my British, Prussian and French soldiers. Does anyone have any knowledge or suggestions on how to do this?

Take plaster castings from figure impressions in blu tac or plastercine.

I have a method, probably neither perfect or good, but it works for me. BUT!!! There is hot water and a sharp knife involved! The old ESCI figures' plastic were perfect for this treatment and some Airfix. Don't know about the more modern brands.

Hello Stewaoi,

do you know "YKREOL" - they have a lot of dead and wounded figures, horses and more...

Imagination is the real key to success, and only trail and error will show the real way upon any roadway of creativity. The real thing is to enjoy doing it. BB

Casualties are amongst the easiest figures to make. All those Esci/Italeri ballet dancer poses are just screaming to have their bases cut off and be used as casualties, as the only way they would achieve such anatomically ridiculous poses would be to have been hit by roundshot! ;-)

I also use the good old Airfix casualties, of which I have quite a stash. Esci/Italeri figures helping wounded comrades to the rear also make good disruption or fatigue markers.
