What colour for Nap chinscales and badges?

Posted by manfred on 20 Mar 2016, 19:05

What colour acrylic do people use for the chinstraps, shako badges and cartridge case badges of French napoleonic troops?

Thanks in advance.

For regular troops it is best to use bronze or brass color. Officers gold. Just my five cents! ;-)

To be honest I use Vallejo bronze paint for all "gold alike" parts of uniforms and equipment.

Yes manfred,i paint Gold or Silver over black, and that works for me on 24mm Figures.
However my style of painting is toy soldier style, but guys into perfect model painting might feel much more comfy using colours that are correct and proper. Have Fun Painting. BB

I found this picture produced by Hat Industries very helpful in my painting. The chinscales are raised up and tied up looped over the red white and blue thing on the hat,and figures are often modelled like this, and of course with the tied up under the chin, both are most correct. BB

Great pics for a question I've been wondering about. How about the straps on the backpack?
